At Cortis’ concert in Indonesia Arena, a spot deep in the festival area did not prevent the footage from feeling close to the stage. The result came from the zoom capability of Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which helped turn a distant view into a convincing fancam.
The scene stood out because festival audiences usually fight for the nearest possible position to the stage. Here, however, camera performance mattered as much as proximity, and the phone became the main tool for keeping facial detail and stage action visible from far away.
The concert took place in Jakarta at Indonesia Arena on Saturday, 19 June 2026. Cortis, a rookie group under Big Hit Labels, performed in Indonesia for the first time after debuting in August 2025.
Despite being less than a year old, the group has already drawn strong attention in the K-pop scene. Cortis, whose full name is Color Outside The Lines, consists of James, Juhoon, Martin, Seonghyeon, and Keonho.
Why 5x and 10x became the most useful settings
The most practical zoom range during the concert was 5x to 10x. At those levels, the stage still looked detailed without losing too much of the overall atmosphere.
Lighting design, choreography, stage visuals, and the members’ expressions remained visible enough for recording. Even from the Pink area, which sits relatively far from the main stage, Martin and the other members could still be captured with a strong sense of closeness.
For several songs, including “TNT”, “REDRED”, “GO!”, and “FaSHioN”, recording started at 1x. That wider view was used to frame the full stage first before switching to a tighter shot at key moments.
Focus lock was applied early, and exposure was lowered so the bright stage lights would not wash out the image. When the chorus arrived or when a closer moment was worth saving, the zoom was moved to 5x.
That level was seen as the sweet spot because faces became clearer while part of the stage still remained in frame. When more detail was needed, zoom went up to 10x, where the image still held up well in a crowded concert setting.
Why the phone was not pushed to 25x
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra supports zoom up to 25x, but the concert use case did not require that maximum setting. In practice, higher digital zoom would have made the image more sensitive to hand movement.
That limitation matters at a live show, where the audience is moving, singing, and jumping along with the performance. For that reason, 5x to 10x offered a more realistic balance between clarity and stability.
The approach also showed that fancam quality is not determined only by how close someone stands to the stage. The right zoom level, along with basic controls such as focus lock and exposure, can make a major difference in the final result.
In a large venue such as Indonesia Arena, zoom remains one of the most important features for concertgoers. It helps reduce the distance gap for fans who are not in the front row or who choose a farther festival area.
The fancam from Cortis’ Jakarta show, recorded with Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, was also shared through video uploads on Tekno Kompas.com’s Instagram and TikTok accounts. The footage showed how a stage moment can still feel nearby even from a physically distant position.
That experience reinforces a practical point for today’s concert audience: with the right device and the right settings, the back of the venue does not always mean losing the best details of the performance.
