WhatsApp Plus has begun appearing for some users in Indonesia, bringing a paid layer of features on top of the standard app. The service starts with a one-month free trial before the monthly charge applies automatically.
For users who can already access the menu, the subscription appears inside WhatsApp settings and is priced at Rp 13.900 per month in Indonesia. That places the service well below the cost of many other digital subscriptions, while still keeping it limited to users on supported phone numbers and active accounts.
How the subscription works
WhatsApp gives new subscribers a free month before billing starts. Once that period ends, the payment is renewed every month on the same date as the original purchase.
The company also says the service only works with a mobile number from a country where it is supported. One subscription applies to one account only, so it cannot be shared across multiple accounts.
If the service is no longer needed, users can cancel at any time. Doing so stops the automatic renewal for the following month.
What WhatsApp Plus adds
WhatsApp Plus is designed to give users more room for personalization and more control over chats. The premium layer focuses on appearance, notifications, and conversation management rather than changing the core messaging experience.
One of the main additions is the ability to pin up to 20 chats at once. By comparison, the regular WhatsApp app allows only three pinned conversations, so this option is aimed at keeping more important threads visible at the top of the list.
Subscribers also get exclusive themes that go beyond what is available in the standard version. WhatsApp already offers themes in the regular app, but the premium package adds extra choices reserved for paying users.
The app icon can also be changed through several alternative designs. That gives each account a more personalized look without affecting the chat functions themselves.
On the communication side, the package includes exclusive stickers and exclusive ringtones. The special sticker effects are meant to make chats feel more expressive, while custom ringtones help users separate notifications from important contacts.
There is also support for custom ringtones and themes for grouped chat lists. Combined with the upgraded chat list experience, these tools make conversation management more specific than the default setup.
Meta Product Chief Naomi Gleit said more features are expected to arrive later, indicating that the premium offering may continue to expand after the current rollout.
Where the option appears
WhatsApp Plus is accessed directly from the app by opening settings, entering the subscriptions menu, and choosing WhatsApp Plus before completing payment through the device’s available method. After payment succeeds, the premium features become active on that account immediately.
Users who want to stop can return to the subscriptions menu and select cancel subscription. Based on current sightings, the option appears on WhatsApp Android version 2.26.22.77 and WhatsApp iOS version 2.26.22.76, although the rollout is gradual and not every user will see it at the same time.
