Huawei has brought the MatePad Mini to Indonesia at a price of Rp 8.999.000. The device is positioned as a premium tablet for users who want a compact form without giving up key features.
Its main appeal is not size alone, but the way Huawei combines portability with a high-end display, stylus support, and AI-based productivity tools. That mix places the MatePad Mini in a niche that favors mobility and everyday convenience.
A compact body built for one-handed use
The MatePad Mini comes with an 8.8-inch screen and a slim 5.2 mm body, while weighing around 260 grams. Huawei says the device is designed to be very compact, even easy to fit into a trouser pocket for men or a small bag for women.
Only one color is offered in Indonesia, Spruce Green. The single-color approach reinforces the tablet’s premium identity, while keeping the lineup simple for local buyers.
The display is the headline feature
Huawei equips the tablet with an 8.8-inch Flexible OLED panel and a screen-to-body ratio of 92 percent. The bezels measure just 2.99 mm, helping the display feel larger than the body suggests.
Specs on the panel include a 16:10 aspect ratio, 120 Hz refresh rate, 2.5K resolution, and peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits. Huawei also adds an e-book mode that can switch the screen into full color or black-and-white, depending on reading needs.
For eye comfort, the tablet includes a blue-light filtering mode to help reduce fatigue during long sessions. That feature is aimed at users who read, browse, or work on the device for extended periods.
Productivity tools and camera hardware
On the software side, the MatePad Mini runs HarmonyOS 4.3 and comes with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. Huawei also includes AI Handwriting Enhancement and AI Equation Recognition to help turn handwriting and math equations into cleaner digital formats.
For video calls and selfies, the front camera uses a 32 MP sensor. The rear setup combines a 50 MP main camera with an 8 MP ultrawide and macro camera.
The tablet supports the Huawei M-Pencil Pro, making it suitable for note-taking, sketching, and other creative tasks. Huawei also offers the MatePad Mini Folio Cover, which adds protection and includes a dedicated storage slot for the stylus.
Battery, connectivity, and ecosystem limits
Power comes from a 6,400 mAh battery with 66W Huawei SuperCharge support. Connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, Nearlink, OTG, USB-C, and GPS.
Other hardware features include 3D cooling, a fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, dual microphones, and Huawei Histen 9.5 audio. These additions help round out the device as a fully equipped compact tablet.
One important caveat remains for buyers who rely on Google services. HarmonyOS 4.3 on this model does not support Google Mobile Service, which means apps such as Play Store, Google Maps, and Gmail are not available in the usual way.
Instead, Huawei directs users to App Gallery as the main app store. For buyers already comfortable with Huawei’s ecosystem, that may not be a major obstacle, but it is still a key difference from Android tablets that rely on Google services.
Price and launch promotion in Indonesia
Huawei is selling the MatePad Mini in Indonesia for Rp 8.999.000 for a single official variant. During the promotion period from 24 June to 24 July 2026, buyers can receive total benefits worth Rp 4.5 million.
The promotional package includes the Huawei M-Pencil and the Huawei MatePad Mini Folio Case. With that bundle, Huawei is clearly targeting users who want a portable tablet that can also work as a note-taking and productivity device.
In the Indonesian market, the MatePad Mini stands out by combining an ultra-compact body, an OLED 120 Hz display, stylus support, and a price that keeps it in premium territory. For shoppers prioritizing portability, it offers a very specific mix of hardware and software choices.
