Galaxy A27 5G Drops the Notch, and Snapdragon Gives Samsung a Cleaner Upgrade

Samsung has given the Galaxy A27 5G a more visible makeover than most midrange updates. The new model abandons the notch and moves to a punch-hole Infinity-O display, giving the front a cleaner and more contemporary look.

That visual change is paired with a meaningful shift under the hood. Samsung says the Galaxy A27 5G uses Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 built on a 4 nm process, with performance claimed to be about 10% to 20% higher than the Exynos 1380 5 nm found in the Galaxy A26.

A more familiar Samsung formula, but with sharper edges

Despite the refreshed front design and new chipset, the rest of the phone keeps Samsung’s familiar midrange formula. It still comes with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display and a 120 Hz refresh rate, keeping the device firmly in the same size and screen class as its predecessor.

Samsung also says the bezels are slimmer, which helps the panel feel larger without changing the overall display size. For users, the main appeal is not a dramatic redesign across the entire body, but a cleaner front and smoother everyday handling.

Performance, memory, and battery

The move to Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is the key selling point of the Galaxy A27 5G. The chip is expected to improve daily responsiveness, from switching between apps to navigating the interface and handling multitasking more efficiently.

Samsung is offering three memory variants: 6/128 GB, 8/128 GB, and 8/256 GB. Power comes from a 5,000 mAh battery, while charging support is capped at 25W fast charging.

Cameras, durability, and software support

On the back, Samsung uses a 50 MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization, or OIS, to help keep photos and videos steadier. It is joined by a 5 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP macro camera, while the front camera is rated at 12 MP.

The phone also carries an IP64 rating, which means it is protected against dust and splashes but is not designed for immersion in water. Alongside that, Samsung is making a long-term software promise with up to six operating system upgrades and six years of security updates.

That combination makes the Galaxy A27 5G more than a cosmetic refresh. It keeps the familiar midrange foundation, but the cleaner design, Snapdragon chip, OIS-equipped main camera, and longer support window give it a stronger case than a routine update.

Price and availability

The Galaxy A27 5G has already appeared in several markets, including Germany and the United States. Samsung will begin sales on 3 July, with color options listed as Black, Blue, Light Green, and Light Pink.

In Germany, the phone starts at 350 euro, while in the United States sales begin on 14 July with a price of 350 dollar AS. As reported by GSM Arena, there is still no information on when the Galaxy A27 5G may arrive in Indonesia.

For now, the Galaxy A27 5G stands out as a midrange Samsung phone that prioritizes a cleaner front design and a more capable chipset without changing the core formula too aggressively.
