Lava has added another low-cost option to its lineup with the Smart 4 Plus, a 4G smartphone aimed at users who need a simple device for everyday tasks. The model stands out because it combines a 90Hz screen, a 5,000 mAh battery, and IP64 protection at a price meant to stay within the entry-level range.
The phone is positioned for light use, including casual gaming, social media scrolling, and video streaming. That combination makes it relevant for buyers looking for a secondary handset or an affordable daily driver rather than a performance-focused device.
90Hz display leads the appeal
The main selling point of the Smart 4 Plus is its 6.75-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. For an inexpensive phone, that higher refresh rate should make menus and scrolling feel smoother than on standard 60Hz screens.
That kind of panel is especially useful for casual games and routine browsing, where fluid movement can improve the overall experience without raising the cost too much.
Modest hardware for basic use
Inside, Lava uses the octa-core Unisoc SC9863A chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. The memory can be expanded by another 4GB through virtual RAM, while the 64GB internal storage can be increased through a dedicated microSD slot of up to 512GB.
To keep resource use light, the Smart 4 Plus runs Android 15 Go Edition. That software choice matches the hardware and is intended to help the phone stay responsive during routine tasks.
Battery, charging, and everyday practicality
A 5,000 mAh battery powers the device, giving it the kind of capacity usually preferred on budget phones meant to last through a full day of light use. Charging is handled through USB Type-C at 10W.
Lava also keeps a 3.5 mm headphone jack, which remains a practical detail for users who still rely on wired earphones for calls, music, or gaming audio.
IP64 protection and market positioning
Another notable feature is the IP64 rating, which gives the phone better resistance to dust and light splashes than many entry-level models. That added durability fits Lava’s emphasis on design, endurance, and battery life for the Smart series.
Sumit Singh, SVP and Head of Product at Lava International Limited, said the series was added to the company’s portfolio to serve the sub-10,000-rupee category. In that context, the Smart 4 Plus is clearly built to compete on practical features rather than premium hardware.
Cameras, colors, and price
On the back, the phone uses a 13MP AI Dual Camera, while the front camera is 5MP for selfies and video calls. Lava offers the device in Nilgiri Blue and Himalayan Silver.
In India, the Lava Smart 4 Plus is priced at around 9,999 Rupee, which is roughly equivalent to about Rp1.9 million. That pricing keeps it firmly in the affordable segment while still offering a display and durability package that is uncommon in this class.
