Xiaomi’s First NAS Targets Buyers With 16TB Storage And A Sharp Crowdfunding Price

Xiaomi has stepped into the NAS market with a device that is likely to attract attention for one simple reason: the price is far lower than its retail figure suggests. The company’s first smart network storage product, Xiaomi Smart Storage, arrives with up to 16TB of capacity and a crowdfunding offer that cuts the entry cost sharply.

The launch is also notable because Xiaomi is not using a standard retail rollout. Instead, the device is being introduced through a short crowdfunding campaign running from 1 July to 8 July, a move that will help the company gauge demand before mass production moves forward.

Three Dual-Bay Options With The Same Core Design

Xiaomi Smart Storage uses a dual-bay design, giving users two hard drive slots for flexible storage setups. The lineup is built around three capacity tiers, making the device relevant for both home users and small office environments.

The available versions are 4TB, 8TB, and 16TB, with each model using paired drives of 2TB x 2, 4TB x 2, and 8TB x 2 respectively. That structure keeps the product easy to scale while still fitting the needs of users who want centralized storage and backup.

At the lowest tier, the 4TB model is priced at ¥2.299 during crowdfunding, or about Rp5,2 jutaan, compared with a regular retail price of ¥3.499, roughly Rp7,9 jutaan. The 8TB version is offered at ¥2.899, around Rp6,6 jutaan, before returning to a retail price of ¥4.499, or about Rp10,2 jutaan.

The top-end 16TB model carries the strongest headline value. Xiaomi lists it at ¥4.699 during the campaign, or around Rp10,7 jutaan, while the standard retail price is set at ¥6.999, about Rp15,9 jutaan.

Built For Households And Small Work Teams

With this pricing and configuration, Xiaomi Smart Storage is clearly aimed at users who need more than simple external storage. It fits well as a shared library for movies, photos, and music at home, while also working as a dedicated backup solution for SOHO users and small offices.

The large gap between crowdfunding and retail pricing is likely to be one of its biggest selling points. For buyers interested in trying a NAS for the first time, the campaign period offers a more accessible entry point without requiring the full retail commitment.

More Technical Details Are Still Pending

Xiaomi has not yet revealed the full technical sheet for the device. Details about software features and connectivity options are expected to arrive closer to the campaign date.

There is also no confirmation yet on whether Xiaomi Smart Storage will be sold outside China. For now, its availability beyond the domestic market remains uncertain until the company gives further notice.
