Oppo Find N7 Wide May Hide Its Fold Better, and That Could Pressure Galaxy Z Fold

The foldable phone race is heating up again as Oppo is reportedly preparing a new rival for Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold. The device, said to carry the Oppo Find N7 Wide name, is drawing attention for a wider screen format and a display crease that could be far less visible.

What makes the leaks stand out is not only the change in shape, but also Oppo’s apparent push to solve one of the most persistent complaints in foldables: the crease on the main panel. If the reports prove accurate, the company may be trying to make the folding experience feel closer to a conventional flagship screen.

A display strategy built around a less visible fold

Tipster Smart Pikachu in China says Oppo is developing a new display technology for its foldable line. The claimed goal is to make the crease on the inner screen look much more subtle than on earlier generations.

That would be a meaningful step for premium foldables, where visual quality matters as much as portability. A less noticeable crease could improve everyday use, especially for reading, watching video, and working on the larger display.

Smart Pikachu also says the Oppo Find N7 Wide may use a horizontal rear camera layout. That design choice would separate it from several current premium foldables and suggest a different approach to the phone’s overall layout.

A wider book-style foldable for the premium tier

Earlier reports from Digital Chat Station suggested that Oppo is developing a book-style foldable with a wider screen format. The prototype is said to feature a roughly 7.6-inch main folding display and a 5.5-inch cover screen.

The display panels are reportedly being developed with Samsung Display and BOE. That partnership indicates Oppo wants strong panel quality as it moves toward the next generation of foldables.

A wider screen could become an important differentiator in the premium segment. It typically gives users more room for reading, productivity, and media consumption, which is exactly where foldables are expected to justify their price and form factor.

New chipset and next-generation hinge system

On the performance side, the device is said to have a chance of using the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The chip is still in development at Qualcomm and is rumored to be built on a 2-nanometer process.

That process is expected to improve both efficiency and performance compared with the previous generation. At the same time, Oppo is also reported to be preparing a new hinge mechanism to help reduce the visible fold more effectively.

If the new display technology and the hinge system arrive together, the Oppo Find N7 Wide could offer a smoother folding experience than its predecessors. That would make the model especially interesting in a category where refinement is often the deciding factor.

Oppo’s flagship design language is also evolving

Smart Pikachu also says Oppo is testing a new design for another flagship model, the Oppo Find X10 Ultra. The device is said to be under evaluation with ultra-thin bezels for a more immersive visual experience.

The circular rear camera module is expected to remain as part of Oppo’s signature premium design language. That suggests the company is trying to modernize its flagships without abandoning the visual identity that has already defined its top-tier phones.

Oppo has not confirmed the Find N7 Wide yet, but the current leak cycle points to a possible launch in the first quarter of 2027. If the reported details hold up, the device could become one of the most closely watched premium foldables in the market.
