Gojek’s School Holiday Push, How Jalan Jajan Makes City Trips Cheaper and Easier

School holiday travel is getting a more practical twist as Gojek rolls out Jalan Jajan, a program that brings local sightseeing and food recommendations into one app. The service is designed to help users plan short trips without switching between multiple platforms.

The concept is straightforward: users can book GoRide or GoCar to reach selected destinations, then browse GoFood recommendations in the same city for a more connected outing. That combination is aimed at making day trips and short urban escapes easier to organize.

Five cities, one travel pattern

Jalan Jajan is available in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Bali. The rollout follows a broader shift in domestic tourism, where travelers are increasingly choosing shorter journeys and limited stays.

According to Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency, domestic tourists now tend to choose trips averaging three nights. Better transport infrastructure has also made it easier for people to explore destinations within or near their own cities.

Abimantra Pradhana, founder of SANA Kenal Kota and author of Kenal Kota: Transisi Jakarta, said urban exploration has expanded in recent years. He noted that city residents are increasingly drawn to hidden gems that are not yet widely known.

Local destinations and food take center stage

Gojek’s Head of Marketing, Marsela Renata, said the company has seen higher mobility during the school holiday period. That activity is driven both by tourism and by people looking for food experiences.

She said Jalan Jajan gives users access to communal spaces, popular local attractions, and authentic as well as trending food spots in each city. The program is also expected to benefit local businesses, GoFood MSME partners, and Gojek driver partners.

More visits to local destinations and food spots could translate into stronger earning opportunities. It may also help support regional economic circulation through activity from residents and visitors alike.

What Gojek recommends in each city

In Jakarta, Gojek highlights community spaces and pedestrian-friendly areas such as Blok M Hub, Glodok Chinatown, and The Breeze. Food recommendations include Bubur Kwang Tung and Ayam Goreng Mak Lengket.

Bandung’s selection combines heritage travel, classic food spots, and family destinations. The curated list includes Pasar Cihapit, Braga CityWalk, Warung Bu Imas, and Kota Baru Food Market.

In Surabaya, the recommendations include Kota Lama Surabaya, Pasar Atum Mall, and Tunjungan Plaza. For local dishes, Bebek Palupi is among the featured choices.

Yogyakarta focuses on cultural experiences through Kotagede, Pasar Kranggan, and ArtJog. The food options include Sate Ratu and Gudeg Yu Djum, both well known among visitors.

Bali rounds out the list with a mix of nature, culture, and modern lifestyle destinations. Pantai Berawa, Mandala Suci Wenara Wana, and Pura Tirta Empul are among the travel picks, while Warung Mak Beng is one of the recommended food stops.

Discounts for rides and meals

To make the holiday plan more affordable, Gojek is offering the promo code YUKLIBUR. The code provides discounts of up to Rp65,000 for GoRide and GoCar services.

Users can also take advantage of promos from GoFood business partners included in the Jalan Jajan curation. That lets sightseeing and dining happen in one simpler and more budget-friendly flow.

With Jalan Jajan, Gojek is positioning its app as more than a mobility service. It is also becoming a gateway to local tourism and regional food culture across several major Indonesian cities during the school holiday season.
