vivo has pushed its foldable lineup into a more aggressive premium position with the launch of the X Fold 6 in China. The starting price is 7,999 yuan, or around Rp21.1 million, placing it squarely in the high-end segment.

What makes the device stand out is not just the price, but the scale of the upgrades behind it. vivo X Fold 6 is the brand’s first foldable to use a MediaTek chipset, and it also carries the largest battery ever used in a vivo foldable smartphone.

Camera system takes the lead

The most attention-grabbing feature is the new 200MP main camera, which makes the X Fold 6 the first foldable from vivo to adopt a Samsung HPB sensor with OIS. That move signals a stronger push toward serious mobile photography on a device category that has often prioritized design and display over imaging.

The rear setup is completed by a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP telephoto periscope camera using Sony LYTIA 602 technology with VCS and OIS. vivo also added Zeiss Teleconverter G2 compatibility, giving users another way to extend zoom performance.

Big displays, high brightness, and dual 20MP selfie cameras

On the front, the X Fold 6 uses an 8.02-inch AMOLED inner display with a resolution of 2504 x 2312 pixels and an adaptive LTPO refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. vivo says the panel can reach a peak brightness of 5,000 nits and uses Samsung M14 material, 1,920Hz PWM dimming, and Ultra Thin Glass protection.

The outer display measures 6.51 inches and has a resolution of 2528 x 1120 pixels with LTPO 1-120Hz refresh behavior. It uses a BOE Q11 panel and second-generation Armour Glass, while both the main and cover screens carry 20MP selfie cameras for more flexible video calls and self-portraits.

Dimensity 9500 Super Edition and a record battery size

Performance is led by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, marking the first time vivo has used a MediaTek chip in its foldable series. The chipset is paired with a vivo V3+ Imaging Chip, LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage.

The battery is another major headline. vivo has fitted the Blue Ocean 7,000mAh battery, which the company describes as the largest battery in its foldable smartphone history.

Charging support includes 80W wired fast charging, 40W wireless charging, and 5W reverse charging. The phone ships with OriginOS 6 Fold based on Android 16.

Premium extras round out the package

The rest of the specification sheet is aimed at buyers expecting a complete flagship experience. vivo X Fold 6 includes IP58 and IP59 ratings, Wi-Fi 7, USB 3.2 Gen 1, NFC, an infrared blaster, stereo speakers, an X-axis linear motor, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Despite the large displays and high-capacity battery, vivo has kept the device relatively slim for a foldable. It measures about 4.4 mm to 4.8 mm when opened and 9.4 mm to 9.9 mm when folded, depending on the version.

Weight also stays within a manageable range for the category at around 228 grams to 235 grams, again depending on the variant. Color options include Blue Cave, Salt Lake, Extreme Night, and Black Gold Edition.
