Samsung is quietly widening the internal test pool for One UI 9, and the move signals that the next major Android update is moving beyond a narrow flagship rollout. More Galaxy devices are now showing up in development builds, suggesting the company is preparing a much broader transition to Android 17.
The most notable detail is the range of devices involved. Samsung is no longer limiting the work to premium phones, as the testing list now includes foldables, mid-range Galaxy A and Galaxy M models, Galaxy F devices, and even a rugged tablet.
Testing is spreading across more Galaxy families
Galaxy A26 is among the devices already linked to a One UI 9 development build, identified by firmware A266MUBU9DZF1. Galaxy A36 has also appeared in testing for Europe with firmware A366BXXUADZG1, while Galaxy A37 is listed with firmware A376BXXU3BZG1 for India.
Samsung has also started work on One UI 9 for Galaxy A15 4G. The device is associated with firmware A155FXXUAFZG1, which shows that even entry-level models are part of the early rollout planning.
In tablets, the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro has also been detected in development, using firmware X356BXXU8DZG1. That adds a rugged tablet to the growing list of products being prepared for the next software cycle.
Foldables remain a major part of the plan
The foldable lineup is seeing especially wide coverage. Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 are both being tested for India and Europe, while the older Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 are also included in development for those regions.
Samsung has also reportedly begun early testing for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. Although the firmware numbers and regions have not been detailed, their presence on the list suggests the company is aligning its next foldable releases with One UI 9.
Mid-range models are not being left behind
One UI 9 development is also reaching models that matter strongly in regional markets. Galaxy S23 FE is listed for India, showing that Samsung is not reserving the update work only for the newest flagship tier.
The Galaxy M series is seeing substantial attention as well. Galaxy M34, Galaxy M35, and Galaxy M56 are all listed for India, while Galaxy M15 appears for both India and Europe.
Galaxy F34 has also entered development for India. Taken together, these entries indicate that Samsung is preparing One UI 9 across a wide mix of devices rather than concentrating on just a few premium models.
Where the beta program stands now
Despite the expanding list of development builds, the public beta remains very limited. At the moment, Samsung has opened One UI 9 beta access only for the Galaxy S26 series, which has already received three beta updates.
That means the appearance of testing firmware on other devices should not be read as an immediate sign of broader beta availability. Samsung has not confirmed when the rest of the Galaxy lineup will receive beta builds or stable releases.
For now, the situation points to internal preparation rather than public expansion. Samsung appears to be checking compatibility across more device categories before opening the software more widely.
A foldable may debut One UI 9 from day one
One detail stands out above the rest: a coming Samsung foldable is expected to be the first device to ship with One UI 9 straight out of the box. That would make the new foldable the company’s showcase device for its Android 17-based software.
The device is rumored to launch on 22 July at an event in London. If that timeline holds, the official arrival of One UI 9 may be closely tied to Samsung’s next foldable launch window.
Seen together, the expanding test list suggests Samsung is moving into a more serious phase of preparation. The company is no longer just experimenting on a few headline devices, and the next version of One UI now appears to be entering a much wider internal test cycle.
