Vivo has pushed the midrange tablet segment into unfamiliar territory with the Pad 5c. The device pairs Snapdragon 8-series performance with a 12.1-inch 2.8K display, making it look far more ambitious than a typical entertainment tablet.
That combination is reinforced by a strong battery, fast charging, and a software package centered on AI productivity. In China, Vivo is positioning the Pad 5c as a device for work, study, and media consumption in one large-screen format.
Flagship-grade hardware in a midrange frame
At the core of the Vivo Pad 5c is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, supported by LPDDR5X RAM of up to 12GB and UFS 4.1 storage up to 256GB. The setup is designed to handle heavy apps, multitasking, and light editing without the lag usually expected in this price class.
To keep performance steady over long sessions, Vivo also includes a 32,200 mm² vapour chamber cooling system. That addition matters for users who plan to game, work, or switch between several apps for extended periods.
Large display, fast refresh rate
The tablet uses a 12.1-inch LCD panel with a 2.8K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. This combination is aimed at sharper visuals, smoother scrolling, and a more fluid feel in both media playback and everyday navigation.
Peak brightness reaches 900 nits, which should help visibility in brighter environments. With its wide screen, the Pad 5c is also better suited to presentations, video calls, and split-screen multitasking than smaller tablets.
AI tools target productivity
Vivo ships the Pad 5c with OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, and the software includes several AI-focused tools. One of the highlights is AI PPT Assistant, which helps users create presentations more quickly.
The tablet also supports Vivo File Transfer for easier data sharing between devices, along with floating window multitasking for more efficient app switching. Vivo’s software direction suggests that the Pad 5c is meant to be more than a consumption device.
Battery life and charging
Power comes from a 10,100mAh battery, a capacity that should comfortably support a full day of mixed use for many users. When the battery finally runs low, 44W fast charging helps reduce downtime.
The efficiency of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 should further improve endurance. That makes the Pad 5c more practical for long study sessions, meetings, and travel use than many tablets in the same category.
Features that round out the package
For video calls and basic photography, Vivo includes an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The rest of the hardware list is equally practical, with four stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, USB Type-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Face Unlock.
The tablet also supports the Vivo Pencil 3 and the Vivo Smart Touch Keyboard 5, allowing it to move closer to laptop-style use when needed. In physical terms, it measures 6.62 mm thick and weighs about 584 grams, which keeps it reasonably portable for a large tablet.
Pricing and variants in China
Vivo offers the Pad 5c in three memory configurations. The 8GB + 128GB model is priced at 2,699 yuan, the 8GB + 256GB version at 2,999 yuan, and the top 12GB + 256GB variant at 3,499 yuan.
| Variant | Memory | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Base model | 8GB + 128GB | 2,699 yuan |
| Mid variant | 8GB + 256GB | 2,999 yuan |
| Top variant | 12GB + 256GB | 3,499 yuan |
Color options include Blue, Green, and Grey. For now, sales are limited to Vivo’s official channels in China, while global availability has not yet been announced.
With its Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 platform, 2.8K 144Hz screen, 10,100mAh battery, and AI-assisted software, the Vivo Pad 5c pushes the midrange tablet category closer to flagship territory. It is a clear sign that the line between entertainment tablets and productivity devices is getting thinner.
