Oppo has introduced three new models in the Reno 16 Series for the Indonesian market, and the lineup is clearly aimed at younger users, content creators, and buyers looking for a premium phone with AI features. The family consists of the Reno 16 Pro 5G, Reno 16 5G, and Reno 16F 5G.
The positioning is less about being a standard smartphone release and more about framing the device as a daily companion for expression and productivity. Christine Natalia, Product Specialist at Oppo Indonesia, described Reno as a “trendy short bestie” designed to accompany users as they try new things and enjoy different experiences.
Design stays slim, while AI tools take a central role
One of the most visible updates is the thin body design, combined with a look inspired by light effects and three-dimensional texture. Oppo calls this approach 3D Pop Planet.
On the software side, the series adds several AI tools, including AI Collage Mix, AI Mind Space, Popout 2.0, and Dual-View Video 2.0. These features are intended to support both productivity and content creation.
All three models also carry IP69 certification, meaning they are protected against dust and high-pressure water spray.
Long-term software support is part of the appeal
At launch, the entire Reno 16 Series runs ColorOS 16. Oppo is also promising 5 operating system upgrades for the lineup.
The company says security updates will continue for up to six years. For buyers who plan to keep a phone longer, that support package adds another layer of value.
Reno 16 Pro 5G leads the lineup
The top model, Reno 16 Pro 5G, uses a 6.32-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution. It also offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, peak brightness up to 3,600 nits, and Oppo Crystal Shield Glass.
Performance comes from the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super 4nm octa-core chipset, which can reach up to 3.4 GHz and uses an Arm GPU. The memory configuration includes 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
Its camera system is built around a 200MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP periscope camera with 3.5x optical zoom. The 50MP front camera supports 4K 60fps video recording, and the rear cameras do as well.
The battery is rated at 6,700 mAh and supports 80W SuperVOOC charging. Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, an infrared blaster, stereo speakers, USB Type-C audio, and IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certification.
Reno 16 5G and Reno 16F 5G cover the rest of the range
Reno 16 5G comes with a 6.32-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also uses 3,840Hz PWM dimming, while the chipset is Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
This model offers 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Its camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide front camera.
The battery capacity is also 6,700 mAh, paired with 80W SuperVOOC charging. Extra features include stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor, AI Mind Space, AI Remix Collage, Dual-View Video 2.0, and IP69.
Reno 16F 5G uses a larger 6.57-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and brightness up to 1,400 nits. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy 4nm chipset, with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Its camera system includes a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP front camera. The battery is larger at 7,000 mAh and also supports 80W SuperVOOC charging.
