Lenovo’s Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 Pushes Closer to Laptop Territory, But the Price Gap Stays Wide

Lenovo has introduced two new tablets in Indonesia, the Idea Tab and the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2, with a clear split between everyday use and more serious productivity. The Pro model is the one that stands out, largely because it is designed to behave much more like a laptop than a typical Android tablet.

Its strongest differentiator is WPS Office PC Level, a feature that is not available on the regular Idea Tab. Lenovo positions the software package as a desktop-like document workflow tool, complete with cloud synchronization and support for Microsoft Office formats both online and offline.

Why the Pro model matters more

The Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is built around a 13-inch PureSight Pro display with 3.5K resolution, a 144 Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of up to 800 nits. Lenovo also offers a Matte Edition, which uses a paper-like screen finish and is described as Flicker Free.

William Hartoyo, Consumer Product Manager Lenovo Indonesia, said the display gives sharper visuals and richer contrast, while also carrying Dolby Vision certification. The combination is meant to support users who want a larger and more flexible screen for work and entertainment.

Productivity-first hardware and software

Under the hood, the Pro version uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset and runs Android 16 out of the box. Lenovo says the tablet will receive operating system and security updates for four years, which gives it a stronger software promise than many rivals in its class.

The battery is rated at 10,200 mAh and is claimed to last up to 12.5 hours for YouTube playback. Charging support reaches 45 watts, with Lenovo saying the battery can be filled from empty in 84 minutes.

For multimedia and calls, the tablet includes an 8 MP front camera and a 13 MP rear camera. Audio is handled by four JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos support, while connectivity includes USB-C, WiFi 7, and Bluetooth 6.

Accessories and AI features widen the appeal

Lenovo is also selling accessories that expand the device’s work potential, including the Lenovo Tab Pen Plus and the Lenovo 2-in-1 Keyboard with Trackpad. The tablet itself adds AI features such as Smarter Reader, AI Notes, Live Transcript, and Smart AI Input.

According to Lenovo Indonesia, the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 also supports better workflow through AI Write optimization. The company says the WPS Office PC Level setup is fully compatible with formal Office apps and is designed to help users move between document tasks more easily.

The regular Idea Tab stays focused on value

The standard Idea Tab is a simpler alternative with an 11-inch display, 2.5K resolution, and a 90 Hz refresh rate. It uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip and comes in 8/128 GB and 8/256 GB variants, with microSD expansion up to 1 TB.

Its 7,040 mAh battery is claimed to last up to 12 hours for YouTube streaming, and it supports 20-watt fast charging. Camera hardware includes an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera, while the software runs Android 15 with an update commitment to Android 17 and four years of security patches.

Lenovo also includes AI Notes, Circle to Search, stylus support through Tab Pen, four speakers with Dolby Atmos, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Color choices are Luna Grey and Polar Blue, keeping the model firmly positioned as the more affordable option in the lineup.

The two tablets are now available in Indonesia through Lenovo’s official stores and partner retailers. With one model aimed at price-conscious users and the other pushing closer to a laptop-style experience, the Idea Tab Series is built to cover a broader range of needs than a typical entry in the tablet market.
