Samsung Galaxy A37 5G does not arrive as a dramatic reinvention of the Galaxy A series. It looks familiar, but two things help it stand out in a crowded mid-range market: long software support and a surprisingly balanced overall package.
For buyers who want a phone that should stay relevant for years rather than one that only looks impressive on paper, that combination matters. Samsung also pairs it with a durable build, a bright AMOLED screen, and a camera setup that remains practical for everyday use.
Two strengths that shape its appeal
The first major reason to pay attention is Samsung’s software commitment. The Galaxy A37 5G ships with One UI 8.5 based on Android 16, and Samsung promises six operating system upgrades plus six years of security updates.
The second is its overall balance. The phone is not chasing headline-grabbing numbers in every category, but it brings enough refinement in display, endurance, camera performance, and thermal control to make daily use feel dependable.

Samsung keeps the familiar Galaxy A design language, including three vertically stacked rear cameras inside a black camera island. The back panel uses Gorilla Glass Victus+, while the frame is made of plastic for a lighter and more practical feel.
The phone is 7.4 mm thick and weighs 196 grams, so it remains relatively slim and light despite its large screen. It can feel a little wide in one hand, but the textured back and key island design on the right side help improve grip and button recognition.
Durability is also a selling point, because Samsung gives the device an IP68 rating for resistance to dust and water. The reviewed unit comes in Awesome Graygreen, a shade that reads as a greenish blue in certain light.
Big AMOLED screen, with a few visible compromises
The Galaxy A37 5G uses a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. Samsung adds a 120Hz refresh rate, so users can choose Standard mode at 60Hz or Adaptive mode for smoother scrolling.
Its peak brightness reaches 1,900 nits, which helps outdoor visibility under direct sunlight. The front is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+, but the bezels remain noticeably thick and uneven, especially at the bottom.
For streaming, the phone supports Widevine L1, allowing Netflix playback in Full HD. It does not support HDR content, though, which limits the premium video experience a little.
An in-display fingerprint sensor is also included, and Samsung says it responds quickly and accurately.
Cameras stay practical, and low light is a surprise
On the back, Samsung keeps a triple-camera setup led by a 50 MP main camera with a larger 1/1.56-inch sensor. It is joined by an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 5 MP macro camera, while the front camera uses a 12 MP sensor for selfies and video calls.
The main camera delivers sharp detail and bright colors, making it a solid choice for everyday photos. The 2x mode is still acceptable, although some subjects can look a little softened.
The ultrawide camera is less convincing because its field of view is not especially wide and it lacks autofocus. The macro camera does better than expected with vivid color, but users must shoot from extremely close range, around 3 to 5 cm, which can sometimes cast shadows on the subject.
Low-light performance is one of the most interesting parts of the package. Night photos are said to be very satisfying for this class, with a fairly wide dynamic range that keeps shadow detail visible.
Daily performance is smooth, but heavy gaming is still limited
Samsung uses the Exynos 1480 chipset built on a 4nm process, replacing the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 found in the previous model. The tested unit carries 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while a 256GB version is also available.
In everyday use, the phone handles multitasking, browsing, light gaming, and light video editing smoothly. PUBG Mobile can still run on high graphics settings, but Genshin Impact is limited to the lowest graphics level and still shows some frame stutter.
Thermals are another positive point. Even after hours of gaming, the device is reported to stay cool rather than getting uncomfortably hot.
Battery life and charging stay competitive
The 5,000 mAh battery gives the Galaxy A37 5G enough stamina to last more than a day in normal use. Activities such as browsing, social media scrolling, music streaming, and light gaming do not drain it quickly.
In PCMark testing, battery endurance reached 15 hours and 17 minutes. Charging is also quick for the class, with 45W fast charging taking the battery to 45% in 30 minutes and reaching a full charge in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The charger is sold separately, so buyers who want the fastest charging speeds will need to budget for an extra accessory. Even so, the combination of long battery life and relatively fast top-ups makes the phone practical for daily mobility.
