Samsung’s next foldable lineup is taking shape with a pricing gap that now looks more deliberate than ever. Leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Fold8 will stay as the standard big-screen option, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is being positioned as the premium step-up.
The reported U.S. price for the Galaxy Z Fold8 starts at $1,899 for the 256GB model. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is said to begin at $2,099 for the same storage, placing it $100 above the Galaxy Z Fold7 it is expected to replace.
A larger premium for the Ultra model
That difference points to Samsung’s strategy for separating the two devices more clearly. According to the report, Samsung is still in the “final review of its pricing plan” ahead of a launch expected next week.
| Model | Starting Storage | U.S. Price |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Z Fold8 | 256GB | $1,899 |
| Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra | 256GB | $2,099 |
Shared chipset, different ambitions
Both foldables are expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. The leak also says the Galaxy Z Fold8 will feature a 5.5-inch cover display, a 7.6-inch main display, two rear cameras, and a 4,800mAh battery.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is described with a 5,000mAh battery and a triple rear camera setup led by a 200MP main sensor. Its design is said to be similar to the Galaxy Z Fold7, which means the clearest differences may come from the Ultra badge and the upgraded camera hardware.
Unpacked event points to a July reveal
Samsung has already scheduled its next Galaxy Unpacked event for 22 July in London. The company is expected to use that stage to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold8, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip8.
With the pricing details now circulating, attention is shifting to how Samsung will frame the two larger foldables in the U.S. market. If the figures are accurate, the new generation will arrive with a noticeably wider gap between the regular Fold and the Ultra model.
