Asus Hints at a New ROG Controller, Small Screen Points to 8,000Hz Polling

Asus has started teasing a new gaming controller that could become one of the most closely watched accessory launches of the season. The biggest clue is a small display on the front of the device, which appears to point toward an 8,000Hz polling rate.

That detail matters because the controller is widely expected to continue Asus’ high-end ROG gamepad line. For PC and console players, a higher polling rate is usually associated with faster input response and a more immediate feel in games.

A display that reveals more than Asus intended

The official ROG account on Weibo shared a teaser video for the controller, with the full design deliberately kept hidden. Even so, several visible elements make the device stand out from the company’s earlier controllers.

The grip area appears to use a textured pattern shaped like the letters “ROG,” while the front of the controller includes a built-in screen. That screen is similar to the one found on the ROG Raikiri Pro, giving the new model a familiar premium look.

The most revealing detail is the number “8000” shown on that display. While Asus has not confirmed the meaning outright, the number strongly suggests an 8,000Hz polling rate.

Why many expect a Raikiri II Pro

The teaser has led many observers to believe the controller could be called the Raikiri II Pro. That assumption is based on Asus already launching the ROG Raikiri II at Gamescom 2025 as a wireless controller for Xbox consoles and Windows PC.

If the new device does arrive as a Pro model, it would naturally follow the ROG Raikiri Pro PC controller released in 2023. The presence of a screen also strengthens the idea that Asus wants to keep the series’ most recognizable feature.

Performance would be the most dramatic upgrade if the 8,000Hz reading turns out to be accurate. The current ROG Raikiri II is rated at 1,000Hz, which already exceeds the 250Hz level of the Raikiri Pro.

How it would fit into the current controller race

An 8,000Hz controller would instantly place Asus in the same conversation as other high-speed PC controllers. Competitors in that space include the GameSir Tarantula 8K PC and the GameSir G7 Pro 8K series, including the Aimlabs Edition and Royal2 Signature Edition.

Asus has not yet confirmed whether the new controller will support Xbox in the same way as the ROG Raikiri II. That leaves the platform question open for now, along with the rest of the technical package.

There is still an expectation that the controller may include TMR joysticks, adjustable triggers, and customizable rear buttons. Asus has also not announced a launch date, but the teaser suggests the reveal may not be far away.
