4 Nokia Feature Phones Get AI Assistants, But the Service Comes with a Subscription

HMD Global has given the classic feature phone a new twist by adding an AI assistant to four new Nokia models. The lineup keeps the familiar T9 keypad design, yet places the AI button right in the center of the navigation keys for quick access.

The four models are Nokia 210 4G, Nokia 235 4G 2nd Edition, Nokia 215 4G 2nd Edition, and Nokia 200 4G. The assistant uses Sikey AI, which is positioned to handle small everyday tasks rather than replace a smartphone.

What the AI assistant can do

According to HMD Global, users can ask the assistant to make calls, turn on the flashlight, set alarms and reminders, or open the camera. It can also answer simple questions, including basic recipes and sample phrases in foreign languages.

That convenience, however, is not permanently free. The AI feature can be tried for the first 180 days, after which users must pay a subscription starting at USD 2.99 per year.

The Nokia 215 4G 2nd Edition and Nokia 235 4G 2nd Edition come with 2.8-inch IPS displays at QVGA resolution and VGA cameras on both the front and back. The Nokia 210 4G and Nokia 200 4G step down to 2.4-inch IPS QVGA screens and use a 2 MP rear camera instead.

Classic features remain in place

All four phones run S30+ and are powered by a 1,450 mAh battery. HMD Global also adds cloud telephone services that can show recent videos, weather forecasts, sports news, and other information without taking up local storage.

For communication, the devices support video calls and voice messages through Xpress Chat. The phones also keep practical hardware staples such as a 3.5 mm headphone jack, FM radio, and a USB-C charging port.

HMD Global has not announced pricing or availability for the new Nokia feature phones. Even so, the launch shows that the feature phone category can still evolve without losing the simple identity that made it last this long.
