Samsung’s next premium tablet line is starting to take shape, and the clearest message so far is that the Galaxy Tab S12+ will play it safe. Rather than chasing a dramatic redesign, the model appears to keep a familiar front layout that stays close to the company’s recent tablets.
That approach also helps Samsung separate the Galaxy Tab S12 family more sharply. While the Tab S12 Ultra has already surfaced with a hole-punch selfie camera in One UI 9 beta firmware, the Tab S12+ still keeps its front camera tucked neatly into the display bezel.
A conservative front design for the Tab S12+
Gizmochina reported that the Galaxy Tab S12+ appeared in Safety Korea certification under model number SM-X840 for Wi-Fi and SM-X846N for the 5G variant in Korea. The filing included images of the tablet’s front, confirming that Samsung has not moved the selfie camera into a screen cutout.
That choice makes sense if the bezel remains similar to the Galaxy Tab S11. With no major reduction in the frame size, Samsung appears to have kept the camera in the bezel to preserve a clean and consistent look.
| Model | Variant | Front Camera Design | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Tab S12+ | SM-X840 Wi-Fi | Camera in the bezel | Listed in Safety Korea |
| Galaxy Tab S12+ | SM-X846N 5G | Camera in the bezel | Listed in Safety Korea |
| Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra | Not detailed in this filing | Hole-punch selfie camera | Seen earlier in One UI 9 beta |
Ultra gets the more striking treatment
The Tab S12 Ultra is being positioned as the more visually distinctive model. The move to a hole-punch camera is believed to align with thinner bezels and gives Samsung a clearer way to separate the Ultra’s appearance and likely its price tier from the Tab S12+.
That split makes the family structure easier to read. The Tab S12+ stays on a safer path with a design that is close to the previous generation, while the Ultra becomes the model with the strongest premium identity.
MediaTek power is expected across the line
Performance expectations are also high, with the Galaxy Tab S12+ and the rest of the Tab S12 lineup said to rely on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500. The flagship 3nm chipset is expected to improve on the Dimensity 9400+ used in the previous generation.
If that rumor proves accurate, the gains should be felt in multitasking, content creation, and gaming. For an Android tablet positioned at the premium end, that mix of a refined design and strong performance is likely to be a major selling point.
Display size remains close to the last generation
Samsung has not confirmed full specifications yet, but the Tab S12+ is rumored to carry a 12.4-inch display. That is the same size as the Galaxy Tab S10+, and the certification images also suggest a very similar overall footprint.
The Tab S12 Ultra is expected to keep its 14.6-inch display and roughly 11,600mAh battery, just like its predecessor. That indicates Samsung is trying to keep each model clearly positioned without letting their roles overlap.
The Galaxy Tab S12 lineup is expected to launch around September or October 2026. For now, the Tab S12+ looks like the most balanced choice for Galaxy users who want a premium tablet for work and entertainment without the more aggressive look of the Ultra.
