Samsung’s next foldable lineup is taking shape ahead of Galaxy Unpacked on July 22 in London, and the most talked-about name is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The premium model is now linked to a starting price of $2,099 in the US, placing it above the regular Fold 8 from the start.

That pricing gap appears consistent in Europe as well. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is tipped to start at €1,999 for 256GB, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected at €2,199 for the same storage option.

Model Starting Price in Europe Storage Options
Galaxy Z Fold 8 €1,999 256GB, 512GB, 1TB
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra €2,199 256GB, 512GB, 1TB
Galaxy Z Flip 8 €1,299 256GB, 512GB

At higher storage tiers, the gap remains intact. In Europe, the Fold 8 is said to reach €2,199 for 512GB and €2,599 for 1TB, while the Fold 8 Ultra climbs to €2,399 and €2,799 for the same capacities.

The rest of Samsung’s foldable and wearable line is also starting to come into focus. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is reportedly set at €1,299 for 256GB and €1,499 for 512GB, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 LTE may begin at around €749.

Design changes set the regular Fold 8 apart

The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to introduce a noticeably different shape from earlier generations. It is expected to feature a 7.6-inch main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, a 5.5-inch cover screen with a 16:10 ratio, and an extremely thin body measuring 4.5mm when open.

When folded, the device is reportedly 9.7mm to 9.8mm thick and weighs about 201 grams. Those figures suggest a large foldable that is unusually light for its class, especially compared with the size of its displays.

Ultra model focuses on camera and battery

According to the report cited by Gizmochina, both phones are expected to use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. The bigger differences are said to come from imaging hardware and endurance, not the core chipset.

The regular Fold 8 is said to carry two 50MP rear cameras, while the Fold 8 Ultra is expected to keep the triple-camera setup from the Z Fold 7, including a 200MP main sensor. The Ultra is also tipped to pack a 5,000mAh battery, compared with 4,800mAh for the standard model.

That battery figure also gives the Ultra a clear edge over its predecessor, which was said to use a 4,400mAh cell. The higher pricing is being linked to rising component costs, especially DRAM and NAND, which could be pushing Samsung to reposition the lineup more aggressively.

Early demo units have already been spotted in Samsung stores in South Korea, with the Fold 8 shown in light blue and the Fold 8 Ultra and Flip 8 in black. The Fold 8 also appears with a black decorative strip on the hinge, a small design detail that may help distinguish it on shelves.

With pricing, design, and hardware leaks now pointing in the same direction, Samsung’s July 22 event is expected to serve mainly as confirmation. The remaining question is how closely the final lineup will match the details that have already surfaced.
