Casio is taking a sharper, more refined route with the new G-Steel GST-B1000, a move that may appeal to buyers who want G-Shock durability without the usual bulk. The GST-B1000BD-1A and GST-B1000BD-2A are now being sold in the United States for US$510 each.
The key change is size. Casio has reduced the watch to 46.9 x 44.2 x 11.6 mm with a weight of about 118 grams, making it one of the thinnest G-Steel models the brand has released.
Metal Look, Minimal Face
Both versions lean heavily into an all-black theme across most of the metal parts. Casio applies black ion plating to the stainless steel bracelet, case back, side buttons, crown, and external screws.
The bezel skips large branding and instead uses brushed and polished finishing, which gives the watch a cleaner and more premium appearance. The result is still recognizably G-Shock, but with a more restrained style that works better beyond casual wear.
| Model | Price | Dimensions | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| GST-B1000BD-1A | US$510 | 46.9 x 44.2 x 11.6 mm | 118 grams |
| GST-B1000BD-2A | US$510 | 46.9 x 44.2 x 11.6 mm | 118 grams |
The case combines stainless steel and bio-based carbon, while Carbon Core Guard technology helps protect the internal module from hard impacts. Casio says the slimmer profile was made possible by a more compact internal module and a special adhesive glass technology.
Smart Functions, Solar Power, and Daily Practicality
Casio Tough Solar remains one of the main selling points. Once fully charged, the watch can run for up to five months under normal use, and the power reserve can stretch to 18 months when power-saving mode is active and the watch is left in the dark.
Bluetooth support is also included, with connection through the Casio Watches app. That allows automatic time adjustment based on location, app-based watch settings, Phone Finder support, and more accurate time synchronization without manual setup.
Built to Stay Tough in Everyday Use
Despite the slimmer design, the GST-B1000 keeps the durability expected from G-Shock. It still offers water resistance up to 200 meters and uses a screw-lock crown for added protection against water and dust.
Casio continues to use mineral glass, while illumination comes from a white Super Illuminator LED with an afterglow effect to improve visibility in low light. The analog hands are coated with Neobrite, helping the dial remain readable in the dark.
The watch also includes a 30-minute stopwatch, countdown timer, daily alarm, and full auto calendar. Casio positions the model as a premium analog option that combines modern connectivity, reliable battery support, and stronger everyday versatility.
The release arrives alongside Casio’s recent Color Camo lineup in the United States, a collection that brings a more expressive Y2K-inspired look for buyers who want a bolder alternative.
