Two Different Paths for HMD

Leaker @smashx_60, who claims to have received information from an internal source, says the HMD Fusion 2 remains active. The device is reportedly being designed around an approach that differs significantly from the first-generation Fusion.
That shift may mean HMD is searching for a more practical form of modularity for affordable phones. Details of the mechanism remain unavailable, but the changes could make modular accessories more usable or more accessible.
Reported specifications point to a 6.58-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is also rumored to use the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, include an 8MP ultrawide camera, and offer IP65 dust and water protection.
The next-generation device may support Smart Outfits Gen 2 and accessories produced through 3D printing. Those features would preserve the central idea behind the line, allowing users to adapt the phone while retaining an emphasis on repairability.
What the First Fusion Established
The original Fusion launched in 2024 with detachable accessories called Smart Outfits. These accessories could add protection or extra functions, including a grip intended for gaming.

The same leaker also stated that the regular HMD Skyline 2 is still moving forward. It is rumored to feature a brighter 144Hz OLED screen, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, and Qi2 wireless charging.
Its camera system could include a 108MP main camera alongside two 50MP sensors. However, the purported Skyline 2 GT and images showing a Skyline 2 with a circular camera module were described as fake concepts.
None of the product details has been officially confirmed by HMD, and specifications can change before an announcement. Still, the reported plans indicate that HMD Fusion 2 and HMD XR22 could preserve two distinct alternatives in the midrange market.
