Poco X8 Leak Points to a 9,000mAh Battery, but Global Model May Get Less

Author: Qoo Media

A new Poco X8 leak suggests that battery capacity could become the phone’s defining feature. The India and China versions are said to carry a 9,000mAh battery, while the global version may receive a smaller 8,340mAh unit.

The reported gap is 660mAh, yet both models are expected to retain a long-endurance profile. Information circulating about the device indicates an estimated two to three days of normal use.

Feature India and China Global Markets
Battery capacity 9,000mAh 8,340mAh
Battery technology Silicon-carbon Conventional lithium-ion
Charging 67W wired, 22.5W reverse charging 67W wired, 22.5W reverse charging

The larger battery is reportedly based on silicon-carbon technology, which is intended to fit more capacity into a phone body. The global model is said to use conventional lithium-ion technology because of safety certification requirements in some countries.

These specifications remain unconfirmed ahead of an official announcement. The regional difference may nevertheless be important for buyers comparing the device across markets.

Firmware Clue Revives the Standard Model

The phone was reportedly identified in HyperOS firmware code by tipster Kacper Skrzypek, who posted the finding through the @kacskrz account. The discovery indicates that the standard Poco X8 may still be planned for selected markets.

The model had not appeared when Poco introduced the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max. Its return in firmware evidence suggests that the standard version was not abandoned.

Poco X8 is expected to be a global adaptation of the Redmi Note 17 Pro, which was introduced exclusively in China. Xiaomi has often adapted Redmi hardware into Poco models for India, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Large AMOLED Display and Mid-Range Hardware

The leaked device is expected to feature a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, listed as 2,712 x 1,220 pixels. It is also said to support a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and everyday app use.

Its processor is expected to be the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. The chipset is positioned for social media, communications, media consumption, and productivity rather than as a main option for demanding games.

Component Reported Detail
Display 6.83-inch AMOLED, 1.5K, 120Hz
Chipset Snapdragon 6s Gen 4
Rear cameras 50 MP main and 2 MP depth
Front camera 8 MP
Operating system HyperOS based on Android 16

The rear camera setup is said to include a 50 MP main sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor. This differs from the global Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G, which is said to have an 8 MP ultrawide camera.

That difference means Poco’s final camera configuration still needs official confirmation. Other reported specifications could also change before launch.

Durability Features and Price Remain Unofficial

The design may follow the Redmi Note 17 Pro, with a plastic body in glossy or matte finishes and a rectangular camera module at the upper left. A USB-C port, volume controls, and a power button are also expected.

The presence of a 3.5mm audio jack has not been confirmed, although it may be retained. The phone may also inherit IP66, IP68, and IP69K certifications for protection against dust, water, and high-pressure sprays.

Poco has not announced a launch schedule or official price. Estimates place the base version at around Rp2.8 million to Rp3.5 million, targeting users who place battery endurance ahead of gaming performance.
