Moondrop has introduced the MM3A, a compact active HiFi speaker built for desktop use with an unconventional cabinet shape. Instead of a conventional box, the speaker uses multiple curves and no parallel surfaces to help control sound reproduction.
The design is intended to reduce diffraction and standing waves inside the cabinet, two factors that can affect small-speaker performance. Moondrop combines that cabinet approach with full digital DSP processing and a separate tweeter system.
Launch Pricing and Availability
Gizmochina reports that the Moondrop MM3A went on sale from July 22 at a launch price of 699.9 yuan per pair. The regular price will rise to 999.9 yuan per pair after the launch period ends.

Separate Drivers and Dual Passive Radiators
The speaker uses a 3-inch aluminum cone driver for the midrange and bass, while a silk-dome tweeter handles high frequencies separately. This arrangement is housed in a body designed to remain compact enough for a desk.
Moondrop also fits two passive radiators on opposing sides of the cabinet. They use pressure from the speaker’s rear chamber to extend low-frequency response beyond what a cabinet of this size would typically produce.
