Samsung is expected to present two distinctly positioned Galaxy Z Fold8 models at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. The reported split would pair a wider Fold8 designed around productivity with a higher-end Fold8 Ultra featuring a 200 MP main camera and an 8-inch display.
The strategy could give buyers a clearer choice within Samsung’s foldable range. One model is said to prioritize a more practical screen shape, while the other may focus on larger hardware and more ambitious camera specifications.
A Wider Fold8 for Multitasking
The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 is rumored to move away from the tall, narrow design associated with earlier Fold devices. When opened, its inner screen may use an aspect ratio close to 4:3.
That format could make the device more comfortable for reading documents, watching videos, running multiple applications, and editing content. Samsung previously offered a possible hint at the new shape in a promotional video tied to Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The regular Fold8 is expected to have a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch cover display. It is also rumored to include a 50 MP main camera and a battery of around 4,800 mAh.
Its reported video playback time reaches up to 26 hours. The device is also said to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, the same chip expected for the Ultra model.

Ultra Model Could Raise the Hardware Ceiling
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is rumored to retain a taller and slimmer body than the regular model. Its larger 8-inch main screen and 6.5-inch cover display are both expected to support a 120 Hz refresh rate.
Reports also point to peak brightness of up to 3,600 nits for the Fold8 Ultra display. Its rear camera system may combine a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
The Ultra is expected to include a 5,000 mAh battery and 45W fast charging support. It may offer video playback of up to 27 hours.

Samsung is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip8, which is rumored to retain its clamshell format in a thinner, lighter, and more durable body. The device may feature a 6.9-inch main display, a 4.1-inch cover screen, 12 GB of RAM, and a 4,300 mAh battery.
Its reported camera setup includes a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10 MP selfie camera. The chipset remains uncertain, with rumors pointing to either Snapdragon 8 Elite or a custom chip with comparable capabilities.
Galaxy Unpacked is scheduled for London, England, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 20:00 WIB under the theme “A New Shape Unfolds.” Samsung has not confirmed the names of the devices planned for the event, though it has signaled innovative form factors and more personalized AI capabilities.
Samsung has also confirmed that a new Galaxy Watch generation will bring AI-based health and fitness information with greater personalization. Galaxy Watch9, Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and extended-reality products including smart glasses remain possible additions to the event.
