Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 May Stand Apart With a New Adreno GPU and LPDDR5 Memory

Qualcomm is reportedly preparing a new mobile chipset identified as SM4875, widely expected to be marketed as the Snapdragon 4 Gen 6. The early details point to a new Adreno 6-series GPU and LPDDR5 memory support as its most notable changes.

Those additions could distinguish the chip more clearly than its CPU layout. The reported processor configuration remains the same two Kryo Gold cores and six Kryo Silver cores used by the preceding model.

Graphics and Memory Take Priority

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 is said to move from an Adreno 4-series GPU to an Adreno 6-series GPU. That shift may provide a more substantial graphics improvement than the reported CPU arrangement suggests.

There are no reported CPU clock speeds at this stage. As a result, the overall performance difference between the new chip and its predecessor cannot yet be measured from the available information.

GSMArena reports that the new platform may also support dual-channel LPDDR5 memory at speeds up to 3,200 MHz. LPDDR4X compatibility is also expected to remain available.

The addition of LPDDR5 memory would give device makers a newer memory option alongside LPDDR4X. The leak does not indicate which future phones would use LPDDR5 or continue with LPDDR4X.

This means the final specifications of devices built on the platform may vary by manufacturer. The memory choice would remain with the OEM rather than being fixed across every Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 phone.

Four Reported Connectivity Options

The reported platform could be paired with one of four connectivity chips. These options span Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 support, while Bluetooth versions range from 5.1 to 6.0.

WCN6450Wi-Fi 6Bluetooth 6.0

WCN6450 is the only listed option with Bluetooth 6.0. Both WCN6750 and WCN6450 are listed with Wi-Fi 6 support.

The presence of several connectivity options suggests that wireless capabilities may differ between devices using the same chipset. A phone’s final Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support would depend on the companion chip selected by its manufacturer.

Successor to Snapdragon 4 Gen 5

The SM4875 chip is expected to succeed the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, which was introduced in May. At present, Qualcomm has not officially confirmed either the Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 name or its detailed specifications.

There is also no confirmed launch schedule, with available information indicating that an announcement could take place as late as next year. Until Qualcomm provides official details, the reported Adreno 6 GPU, LPDDR5 support, and connectivity options should be treated as early leak information.
