The iQOO 16T is reportedly being tested with a large internal cooling fan, pointing to an unusually strong emphasis on sustained performance. If retained for the commercial model, the component could distinguish the device from conventional flagship smartphones that rely on passive thermal solutions.
The information concerns prototype hardware, so no final configuration has been confirmed. Details such as the fan’s shape, placement, and effect on the phone’s body thickness remain undisclosed.
A display built for a premium segment
Testing units are also said to use a flat Samsung display with 2K resolution. That panel, paired with a flagship-class chipset and active cooling, suggests a device intended for demanding and prolonged use.
Its screen size, panel type, refresh rate, and peak brightness have not been revealed. It is therefore not yet known whether the iQOO 16T will retain or exceed the 144Hz display specification used by its predecessor.
Two chip platforms under consideration
Digital Chat Station, as cited by Gizmochina, reported that iQOO has begun testing iQOO 16T prototypes with multiple chipset options. The main version is said to use Qualcomm SM8950, a chip expected to be named Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 when officially introduced.
A separate variant is reportedly being evaluated with the Dimensity 9600, referred to as DX6 in the leak. iQOO has not confirmed which platform, if either, will be used in the retail device.

What the iQOO 15T established
The iQOO 16T is expected to succeed the iQOO 15T, which launched in May 2026. The earlier model already occupied a high-performance position in iQOO’s lineup, giving its successor a substantial hardware base to build on.
The iQOO 15T features a 6.82-inch AMOLED LTPO display with 2K+ resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. It is powered by the Dimensity 9500 Monster and offers up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM with up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
Its power system combines an 8,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging. The phone runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16.
The camera setup includes a 16MP front camera, a 200MP main camera with OIS, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. It also uses a metal frame and carries IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance ratings.
Cooling is the key unanswered detail
Among the early details, the internal fan is the most consequential because it is intended to help manage thermal load during intensive operation. The reported approach places the emphasis on performance stability rather than headline specifications alone.
No official launch schedule for the iQOO 16T has been announced. It is also unclear whether the device will be introduced in May 2027 or at an earlier time.
