Google’s next Pixel lineup may make a more noticeable daily-use change through its modem than through a routine annual processor update. Leaks point to a switch to the MediaTek M90 modem, which could be significant for cellular connectivity and standby power consumption.
The rumored Pixel 11 family is also expected to start at higher prices while dropping the 128GB storage option. Google is scheduled to announce the Pixel 11 series, including the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, at its Made by Google event in New York City on August 12, followed by an India launch on August 13.
1. Higher prices may come with 256GB as the new starting point
An Amazon listing that appeared early, reported by Droid Life and summarized by Gizmochina, suggested roughly a US$100 increase for each model. The same information indicated that Google may end 128GB configurations across the Pixel 11 family.
That would make 256GB the entry-level storage capacity for every model. The change would raise the cost of entry, but it would also give buyers more storage from the base version.

The standard Pixel 11 is said to come in Midnight, Fuchsia or Hibiscus, Moss or Pistachio, and Frost. The Pro models are expected in Dune, Light Fog, Midnight, and Pine.
2. Tensor G6 is expected, but the modem may be the bigger story
Every Pixel 11 model is expected to use Google’s Tensor G6 chip. The more consequential hardware change may be the reported move away from Samsung Exynos modems to the MediaTek M90.
Earlier Pixel generations have sometimes been associated with cellular connection issues and higher power use while idle. There is no official testing yet, but a more efficient modem could address both areas in everyday use if the leak proves accurate.
Rumored battery capacities also vary across the lineup. The regular Pixel 11 is listed with a 4,985 mAh battery, while the Pixel 11 Pro XL is said to have a 5,115 mAh unit.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is listed with a 4,750 mAh battery. That figure would be slightly smaller than the previous generation’s capacity.
3. Pixel Glow may replace the Pro temperature sensor
The Pixel 11 series is expected to retain the familiar flat display and horizontal camera bar. However, the Pro models are said to lose the infrared temperature sensor included on earlier devices.
Its place may be taken by Pixel Glow, a circular color-changing LED integrated into the camera bar. Google’s teaser material is said to have confirmed the feature as a visual indicator for notifications and alerts when the phone is placed face down.
The addition would give the camera bar a purpose beyond housing the camera system. It could also create a distinct visual signature without requiring a major departure from the established Pixel design.
4. Pixel 11a is beginning to emerge as well
Leaks have also begun to outline the Pixel 11a, which is expected to arrive several months after the flagship models. Tipster Mystery Leaks said on Telegram, in a report carried by 91mobiles, that the device codenamed Formosan will have a 6.3-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Pixel 11a is also expected to use the Tensor G6 and MediaTek M90 modem. It is rumored to carry a 4,870 mAh battery and a new front camera sensor for video calls.
Prices, battery capacities, storage configurations, and final specifications remain unconfirmed. Google will need to provide official details before the leaked information can be treated as final.
