A leaked firmware build has revealed that the canceled ROG Phone 10 Pro may have carried a 32MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. That setup would have given Asus’ unreleased gaming phone a more versatile rear camera system than the standard model.
The firmware information suggests that both planned phones would have used the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. They were also listed with 5G, Wi-Fi 7, UFS 4.0 storage, and LPDDR5X RAM.
One Platform, Two Camera Directions
GSMArena reported that Asus was preparing the ROG Phone 10 and ROG Phone 10 Pro with the same core performance platform but different camera priorities. The Pro model was positioned around optical zoom, while the regular version was set to include a macro camera.

The ROG Phone 10 Pro was reportedly set to use a 50MP OmniVision OV50Q main sensor measuring 1/1.3 inches. The same sensor is also used in the Xiaomi 17.
Its ultrawide camera was listed as a 13MP unit using the OmniVision OV13B10 sensor. The 32MP telephoto camera, based on Samsung’s ISOCELL JD1 sensor, was expected to provide 3x optical zoom.
For the front camera, the Pro model was said to use a 32MP OmniVision OV32C sensor. This combination of main, ultrawide, telephoto, and front cameras would have set it apart from the regular ROG Phone 10.
The Standard Model Took a Different Route
The regular ROG Phone 10 was reportedly planned with a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera. It would have retained the 13MP OmniVision OV13B10 ultrawide and 32MP OmniVision OV32C front camera.
Instead of a telephoto module, Asus was said to have selected a 5MP macro camera for this model. The distinction indicates that the Pro version was intended to offer greater flexibility for distant subjects through optical zoom.
A Product Line That Stopped at Generation 9
Asus launched the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro in 2024 before deciding not to release further new phones in the series. As a result, the ROG Phone 10 family is unlikely to become a commercial product.
Gaming-specific features and optimizations were not disclosed in the leaked firmware. The leak therefore offers only a partial view of how far Asus had developed the ROG Phone 10 and ROG Phone 10 Pro before the line was discontinued.
