Motorola has officially launched the Edge 70 smartphone globally, following its initial debut in China as the Moto X70 Air. This new device targets the upper mid-range segment with a slim design and high-end features. It is currently available in China and the UK, with availability soon expanding to Europe and the Middle East.

The Edge 70 boasts a slim profile at only 5.99 mm thick and weighs 159 grams. It comes in three Pantone-certified color options: Lily Pad, Gadget Grey, and Bronze Green. Motorola emphasizes the device’s combination of sleek aesthetics and robust performance, supported by software updates guaranteed until mid-2031.

Display and Build

The smartphone features a 6.67-inch pOLED Super HD display with a resolution of 2712×1220 pixels and a pixel density of 446 ppi. The panel supports 10-bit color, HDR10+, and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut with Pantone skin tone validation to ensure accurate color reproduction. The screen brightness peaks at 4500 nits, ideal for outdoor use, and offers a smooth 120Hz refresh rate combined with 300Hz touch sampling. A Corning Gorilla Glass 7i layer protects the display.

Constructed with military-grade toughness, the Edge 70 meets IP68 and IP69 standards for water and dust resistance and MIL-STD 810H certification. Its frame is made from aircraft-grade aluminum, complemented by a nylon-like silicone back for durability and grip.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset fabricated using a 4nm process. This SoC is coupled with the Adreno 722 GPU, offering efficient and powerful graphics performance. The Edge 70 offers up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and can have internal storage up to 512GB.

The phone runs on Android 16 out of the box, with Motorola promising security updates and software support extending for over five years, until June 2031, providing long-term reliability.

Camera System

Motorola has equipped the Edge 70 with a versatile triple-camera setup. Its primary sensor is a 50MP unit with an f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), and Ultra Pixel technology to enhance low-light sensitivity. The front-facing camera is also a 50MP shooter capable of 4K video recording. It supports adaptive stabilization, autofocus tracking, and facial retouch features.

The device integrates advanced AI photography modes including Action Shot, Night Vision, Dual Capture, and Portrait Mode with multiple focal lengths (24mm, 35mm, and 50mm). It also links with Adobe Scan and Magic Editor via Google Photos for enhanced photo editing and document scanning.

Battery and Charging

The Edge 70 houses a 4800mAh silicon-carbon battery that Motorola claims can last up to 50 hours under certain conditions. Rapid charging is supported with TurboPower 68W wired charging, delivering hours of usage after just 15 minutes of charging. Wireless charging is available at 15W, adding to the device’s convenience.

Pricing and Availability

The Motorola Edge 70 is priced around ¥7,530 (approximately $1,100 USD) in China. In the UK market, it retails near £700 (about $860 USD). Motorola plans to extend availability across additional global markets soon, focusing on Europe and the Middle East in the current phase.
