Vivo has begun rolling out the OriginOS 6 beta update for its flagship X100 and X100 Pro smartphones. This major update brings a refreshed interface, performance boosts, and enhanced productivity features tailored to improve the overall user experience.
The update package is sizable, weighing close to 4GB, so Vivo advises users to download it over a stable Wi-Fi connection. Additionally, the company recommends ensuring at least 50% battery charge and backing up important data before proceeding with installation to avoid disruptions or data loss.
How to Activate OriginOS 6 Beta
To access the beta version, users need to navigate to Settings > About phone > System updates, tap the three-dot menu, and enable the Trial version option. Once enabled, OriginOS 6 will appear as a selectable update for download. The firmware builds are listed as PD2309F_EX_16.2.7.5.W30 for Vivo X100 and PD2324F_EX_A_16.2.6.13.W30 for the X100 Pro model.
Visual Enhancements and Refined Interface
OriginOS 6 introduces a more fluid system interface with visually richer feedback effects, including new lighting styles like edge light, enhanced light, and diffuse light. These effects make interactions feel smoother and more natural. Vivo also unveiled a new system font called vivo Sans. This font offers adjustable weight for better readability, though its support for different languages remains limited. The overall UI incorporates rounded corners, blur effects, transparency, and consistent icon designs for a polished look.
More Customization on Lock and Home Screens
Personalization options for the lock screen have expanded significantly. Users can choose between classic clock styles or fully customize fonts, stroke weights, HSL color for clock hands, and clock positioning. The lock screen can also display weather, step count, battery status, and notifications using a card layout for quick information viewing. The home screen now supports multiple layout options such as 4×7 grids, integrates the Klotski Grid system, and allows pinning apps, creating folders, and batch operations in Drawer mode. App recommendations dynamically adjust based on time, location, and user habits for a tailored experience.
Streamlined Control Center and Faster Performance
The update separates the Control Center from the Notification Center for easier access and usability, accessible from the top-left or top-right corners. The volume bar and other visual elements received design upgrades for a cleaner interface. Performance improvements come courtesy of the new Origin Smooth Engine, featuring a dual rendering architecture and priority-based computational algorithms. These enhancements speed up app launches and multitasking transitions. The Storage Fusion feature accelerates file transfers, and system animations become noticeably smoother.
Productivity and Security Improvements
OriginOS 6 integrates productivity tools like Origin Island and Office Kit, which offer improved notification displays and music playback controls. File sharing across devices, including Windows and Mac, happens in real-time, simplifying cross-platform workflows. The Super Clipboard enables seamless copying of text or images between devices. Security advances include Private Space for sensitive data, privacy protections for clipboard access, and strict permission controls preventing unauthorized access to contacts, SMS, or call logs.
Health and Eye Care Features
To promote eye comfort and health, the update adds Sleep Comfort mode, adjusting screen color temperature before bedtime. The Dark Mode experience is also enhanced for better nighttime usability. A new Motion Prompts feature aims to reduce motion sickness symptoms when traveling via public transport. Meanwhile, the Origin Health app tracks daily physical activity, and note-taking apps now support hierarchical folders, reminders, and customizable text styles. Additional features like Screen Mirroring and audio switching complement the overall productivity suite.
This OriginOS 6 update beta signals Vivo’s commitment to refining flagship user experiences through a mix of aesthetic improvements, smoother performance, and functional upgrades. The stable version of the update is expected to roll out in the coming weeks, bringing these enhancements to a wider audience.
