Huawei Mate X7 Officially Launched: Key Features and Advantages Revealed

Huawei has officially launched the Mate X7, marking a significant advancement in the foldable smartphone market. This new model offers notable improvements in design, display, camera, and performance, positioning itself as a fierce competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7.

The Mate X7 features a more compact and lighter form factor despite its complex foldable structure. Its thickness measures 9.5 mm when folded and just 4.5 mm when opened. Weighing 235 grams, it is about 4 grams lighter than its predecessor, Mate X6. Huawei retains a sturdy aluminum frame and adds durability with IP58 and IP59 certifications, enabling resistance against dust, water, and high-pressure water jets.

Display Enhancements

The device sports an 8-inch main OLED LTPO display with an 8:7.3 aspect ratio and a secondary 6.49-inch screen with a 20.4:9 ratio. Both screens support a dynamic refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz and incorporate PWM dimming at 1,440 Hz for eye comfort. These features ensure smooth visuals and adaptive brightness, enhancing multitasking and media consumption experiences for users.

Camera Upgrades

Huawei continues to use its acclaimed 50MP RYYB main sensor with 10-step variable aperture (f/1.4–4.0) and optical image stabilization (OIS). The telephoto camera has been upgraded to a 50MP unit with f/2.2 aperture and 3.5x optical zoom, delivering sharper zoomed-in photos. Additionally, the ultra-wide lens offers 40MP resolution. For selfies, two 8MP cameras are installed on each screen to facilitate use in both folded and unfolded states.

Performance and Storage

The Mate X7 runs on the latest Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, the same powerful chip found in the Mate 80 Pro Series. It uses ARMv8 architecture with a nine-core CPU setup: a primary core at 2.75 GHz, four performance cores at 2.27 GHz, and four efficiency cores at 1.72 GHz. This combination promises high processing power alongside energy efficiency. Users can choose between 12GB or 16GB of RAM and storage options up to 1TB.

Battery and Software

Powering the device is a large 5,600 mAh battery. The phone supports fast wired charging at 66W and wireless charging at 50W, ensuring minimal downtime. It ships with HarmonyOS 6 and includes satellite communication capabilities, highlighting Huawei’s push toward integrating advanced connectivity features in premium devices.

Huawei Mate X7 will be available in China starting December 5, 2025. The pricing is set as follows:
