Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Z TriFold, marking its entry into the triple-fold smartphone market. This device features an ultra-light design and advanced hinge technology aimed at productivity and creative professionals.
The Galaxy Z TriFold uses a dual titanium hinge that fully protects the main internal display when folded. Unlike competitors with outward folding screens, Samsung places the secondary display on the back while the two main screens fold inward, maintaining a sleek and secure profile. Constructed with an Advanced Armor aluminum frame, the device measures just 3.9mm in thickness at its thinnest point and weighs 309 grams.
When folded, the Galaxy Z TriFold measures 159.2 x 75 x 12.9 mm and includes IP48 certification against dust and water splashes, the same rating seen on Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 series. These features enhance durability without compromising the elegant appearance.
The primary screen inside spans 10 inches with a resolution of 2160 x 1584 pixels. It supports an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz and reaches a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. A 10MP front camera is embedded discreetly on the right side of this display. The rear secondary screen measures 6.5 inches with 2520 x 1080 pixels resolution, also supporting 1–120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,600 nits brightness. This panel utilizes Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for enhanced protection and includes another 10MP selfie camera.
This unprecedented screen size allows users to run three full-size apps simultaneously in portrait mode, creating a powerful multitasking environment. Galaxy Z TriFold also debuts Samsung DeX as a standalone app accessible directly from Quick Settings. Paired with a keyboard and mouse, the device functions like a portable mini PC, catering to mobile productivity.
Under the hood, Samsung equips the TriFold with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, along with 16GB of RAM and options for 512GB or 1TB of internal storage. The camera setup includes a 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main sensor, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera, ensuring flagship-level photography capabilities despite the complex form factor.
Powering the device is a 5,600mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging via cable and 15W wireless charging. This provides ample endurance for demanding use cases while maintaining portability. The device launches in a single color variant, Crafted Black, underscoring its premium positioning.
Samsung plans to release the Galaxy Z TriFold initially in South Korea on December 12, before expanding availability to China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the United States. The retail price is set at approximately 3,590,400 KRW, which converts to about $2,775 USD.
