OnePlus 15R Launches with 512GB Storage and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5: Key Specs Revealed

OnePlus is set to shake up the smartphone market with the upcoming launch of the OnePlus 15R, scheduled for December 17, 2025. This device targets the mid-to-upper segment by offering flagship-level performance at a competitive price. Its standout feature is a high storage capacity of up to 512GB paired with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.

The OnePlus 15R will come in two storage versions, both equipped with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The base model includes 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, while the high-end model boasts a generous 512GB. Prices in the Indian market are estimated to start at around ₹47,000 (~$570) for the base and exceed ₹52,000 (~$630) for the higher storage variant, positioning the device strongly against competing models.

Attractive Launch Discounts

OnePlus plans to offer bank promotions at launch, potentially reducing prices by ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 (~$36–$48). This discount will make the 256GB variant available for approximately ₹44,000 (~$535) and the 512GB version for around ₹48,000–₹49,000 (~$585–$595). Partner banks such as ICICI, HDFC, and Axis will facilitate these offers, providing greater affordability.

Design and Color Options

The design philosophy of the OnePlus 15R remains simple yet elegant. Buyers can choose either classic Black or a modern Green color option. Additionally, a special “Ace Edition” in Purple will be available, likely including exclusive features or cosmetic enhancements, continuing the tradition of special editions from the brand.

Technical Specifications: Flagship Features

The OnePlus 15R is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset fabricated using a 4nm process, paired with an Adreno 750 GPU. It runs OxygenOS 16 based on Android 15 for a smooth user experience. The device includes a customizable physical “Plus Key” for quick access to frequently used apps or AI assistants.

The display is a crisp 1.5K AMOLED LTPO panel with a resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels and an ultra-smooth 165Hz adaptive refresh rate. The screen supports HDR10+ and achieves peak brightness up to 4500 nits. Protection comes from Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 3, enhancing durability.

Battery life is impressive, featuring a 7,400mAh cell with 80W fast charging that can reach full capacity in roughly 35 minutes. While wireless charging is not supported, this large battery capacity makes the phone ideal for heavy usage.

Durability and Certification

Uniquely for its price range, the OnePlus 15R is rated IP68 and IP69, meaning it is water and dust-resistant, plus able to withstand high-pressure water jets. These certifications are typically reserved for premium flagship devices, giving the 15R a notable edge in durability.

Camera Enhancements

The front camera has received a significant upgrade from 16MP to a 32MP sensor with autofocus, enabling 4K video recording at 30fps. This sensor is an OmniVision model, supported by OnePlus’s DetailMax Engine for enhanced texture, natural lighting, and better noise reduction in low light. This marks a big improvement over the OnePlus 13R’s selfie capabilities.

On the rear, the primary camera sports a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor capable of filming 4K video at 120fps, an advanced feature rare even among flagship competitors. It also includes dual optical and electronic image stabilization (OIS + EIS) and AI-backed photography modes such as night, portrait, and HDR shooting.

Competitive Market Position

Priced from the equivalent of about $570 to $630, the OnePlus 15R will compete directly against models like the Xiaomi 15 Lite, Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, Nothing Phone (3), and Realme GT 6 Pro. It differentiates itself by combining high RAM, massive battery capacity, advanced selfie camera with 4K video, and robust water and dust resistance.

Worldwide Launch Strategy

OnePlus’s December 17 event is not limited to the smartphone launch. Alongside the 15R, the company will introduce the OnePlus Pad Go 2 tablet and the OnePlus Watch Lite smartwatch targeting various markets including India and Europe. This reflects OnePlus’s strategy to expand its ecosystem of affordable yet powerful smart devices.

With its premium features, competitive pricing, and exclusive launch discounts, the OnePlus 15R promises to be a major contender in the mid-premium smartphone segment. Its release is highly anticipated among users who prioritize performance, durability, and advanced camera capabilities.
