New Foldable iPhone Prototype Unveiled Promising Smooth, Crease-Free Display Experience

Apple’s long-anticipated foldable iPhone design has been revealed through high-quality renders. These visuals suggest the device will feature a near crease-free large main screen, setting it apart from current foldables in the market.

Jon Prosser, a trusted tech leaker from Front Page Tech, shared the detailed design in a recent video. He states Apple chose a vertical book-style fold, rather than the horizontal clamshell design, aiming to solve key technical hurdles effectively. The foldable device reportedly sports a 5.5-inch cover display and a main 7.8-inch foldable screen inside.

Innovative Technology to Eliminate Crease

Apple’s big innovation involves reducing the visible crease—a common downside in most foldables. According to Prosser, the company employs a combination of pressure-dispersing metal plates, liquid metal hinges, and in-cell touch panels. This mix is intended to create an almost crease-free viewing experience.

Rumors align with reports that Apple is developing an ultra-thin flexible glass (UFG) to further minimize folding marks. If proven successful, this technology could be Apple’s most significant foldable hardware contribution so far.

Sleek Design and Performance Specs

The foldable iPhone will be slim, measuring 9mm thick when closed and just 4.5mm when fully open. It is expected to run on Apple’s powerful A20 Pro chipset, paired with the second-generation C2 modem. The device also reportedly includes a high-density battery for extended usage, consistent with rumors of it having Apple’s largest battery yet.

Camera setup features dual rear cameras housed in a module resembling the iPhone Air. On the outside and inside displays, there will be one camera each, but no under-display camera is included.

Security and Additional Features

Apple is said to forego Face ID on this model, opting instead for a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button—moved to the top edge for easier access. The device is rumored to come in only black and white colors. Pricing is projected between $2,000 and $2,500, positioning the iPhone Fold in the premium segment.

Apple also plans to adopt full eSIM functionality, following trends set by recent iPhone models, eliminating the need for physical SIM cards entirely.

Market Implications and Industry Impact

While Apple has not officially confirmed the iPhone Fold, credible leaks fuel excitement about its potential launch. Successfully addressing crease issues could redefine industry standards for foldable smartphones. Apple’s entry is expected to influence the global foldable market trajectory significantly, driving innovation and competition.

This device targets high-end consumers and early adopters who seek the latest technological breakthroughs. Its success might shape how the market values foldable technology and will test Apple’s ecosystem appeal in this emerging smartphone category.
