Samsung officially unveiled its latest lineup of ultra-thin laptops, the Galaxy Book6 series, at CES 2026. These models feature the new Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors based on Intel’s innovative 18A (1.8nm) fabrication node. This new chip technology, combined with advanced cooling solutions, allows the laptops to deliver superior performance and longer runtime without overheating.
The Galaxy Book6 family consists of three variants: the standard Galaxy Book6, the Galaxy Book6 Pro, and the flagship Galaxy Book6 Ultra. The Ultra version is exclusively available in a 16-inch size, while the standard and Pro models come in both 14-inch and 16-inch configurations. Each model targets different user needs, balancing portability with power.
Display and Visual Experience
The Galaxy Book6 Pro and Ultra come equipped with Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreens. These panels support a variable refresh rate from 30Hz to 120Hz, which dynamically adjusts based on the content, such as videos or gaming. This feature improves battery efficiency and visual smoothness. The Ultra model’s screen uses Gorilla Glass DXC for enhanced drop and scratch resistance, along with an anti-reflective coating that cuts glare by 75%. Additionally, the display meets True Bright 1300 and True Black 0.0005 nits certifications, reaching peak brightness of 500 nits for SDR and 1,000 nits for HDR content.
In contrast, the standard Galaxy Book6 features a 14- or 16-inch IPS LCD display with a brightness of 350 nits. This configuration suits users who prioritize price and basic productivity over premium display quality.
Performance Powered by Next-Gen Intel Processors
Under the hood, the new Intel Core Ultra 3 processors offer impressive gains, with CPU performance boosted by up to 60% compared to previous generations. These chips integrate up to 16 cores divided between performance (P) and efficiency (E) cores and include a neural processing unit (NPU) capable of up to 50 TOPS (trillions of operations per second) for AI tasks. This makes the laptops well-suited for multitasking, creative workloads, and gaming.
The Galaxy Book6 Ultra supports configurations with high-end Intel Core Ultra X9, X7, 9, or 7 series CPUs. For graphics, users can opt for the built-in Intel Arc GPU, which is reportedly 70% faster than its predecessor, or choose dedicated Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 GPUs with 8GB of GDDR7 memory, providing powerful rendering capabilities for gamers and professionals. RAM options on the Pro models range from 16GB to 64GB LPDDR5X, while storage options include PCIe SSDs from 512GB up to 2TB, plus expandability via additional slots.
The base Galaxy Book6 model comes with Intel Core Ultra 7 or 5 processors, 16GB to 32GB RAM, and SSD storage options from 256GB to 1TB. The 14-inch base variant supports only the smaller 2230 SSD form factor but still maintains internal expandability.
Battery Life and Charging
Battery life sees notable improvements, with the Galaxy Book6 Pro and Ultra lasting up to 30 hours of video playback—an increase of five hours compared to older models. The Ultra model supports fast charging at power levels of 100–140W (depending on GPU choice), reaching 63% charge within 30 minutes. Battery capacities vary among models:
- Ultra: 80.2Wh battery, 100–140W fast charging
- Pro 14”: 67.18Wh battery, 65W charging
- Pro 16”: 78.07Wh battery, 65W charging
- Standard: 61.2Wh battery, 45W charging
These specifications highlight Samsung’s focus on balancing high performance with extended usage for mobile productivity.
Design and Portability
Samsung emphasizes a slim and lightweight design for all Galaxy Book6 models. The Pro 14-inch variant measures just 11.6mm thick and weighs 1.24 kg (2.73 lbs), while the Pro 16-inch is slightly thicker at 11.9mm and weighs 1.59 kg (3.51 lbs). The Ultra, being the most powerful, is thicker at 15.4mm with a weight from 1.79 to 1.89 kg (3.95 to 4.17 lbs). The standard models are uniformly 14.9mm thick and weigh 1.48 kg (3.26 lbs). Opting for touchscreens adds thickness (16.8mm) and an additional weight up to 1.85 kg (4.08 lbs).
Advanced Cooling System
The Galaxy Book6 Pro and Ultra models integrate cutting-edge cooling technology aligned with the Intel 18A chips. The Ultra model benefits from a larger vapor chamber and fins that improve heat dissipation efficiency by up to 35%. Enhanced airflow is maintained through expanded fan grids, resulting in both lower operating temperatures and quieter performance during intensive tasks.
Connectivity and Audio Features
Connectivity options on the Pro and Ultra include dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A, HDMI 2.1 supporting 8K at 60Hz and 5K at 120Hz, audio jack, SD card reader, Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be 2×2), and Bluetooth 5.4. The standard Galaxy Book6 provides essential ports such as two USB-C, two USB-A, HDMI, Ethernet, microphone/headphone combo jack, and microSD slot, with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4.
Audio on the Ultra features a six-speaker system (two tweeters and four woofers) with Dolby Atmos support, delivering rich and immersive sound. The Pro 16-inch has a similar but slightly reduced speaker setup, while the 14-inch Pro model includes only two speakers.
Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Book6 series in select markets by the end of January 2026, with pricing details unveiled during the event. A special corporate edition will be available starting in April.
This release marks a significant step in Samsung’s laptop strategy, combining Intel’s latest high-efficiency processors with premium displays and design. The Galaxy Book6 series caters to a broad range of users, from everyday productivity enthusiasts to demanding professionals and content creators who need powerful, portable machines.
