Apple AirTag Gen 2 Lands in Indonesia, Sharper Finding and Louder Alerts

Apple’s latest AirTag has officially arrived in Indonesia, and the upgrade focuses on two of the features users rely on most: finding items more precisely and hearing the alert more clearly. The new model is priced at Rp 599.000 for a single unit, while information about a four-pack has not yet been listed on the official distributor site.

The most significant changes are centered on the tracking experience. Apple says the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip boosts Precision Finding so it can locate an item up to 50 percent farther than before, which can be especially useful when searching in crowded spaces or when the missing item is not nearby.

A stronger signal when searching gets harder

For users trying to find a bag, wallet, or other important item indoors, the improved Precision Finding can make the process feel more direct. A wider tracking range gives the phone clearer guidance, which can reduce guesswork when a target is hidden among objects or placed somewhere less obvious.

Apple has also increased the volume of the built-in speaker. The company says the sound is now 50 percent louder, making the location alert easier to hear during a search.

That improvement matters in everyday situations where visual tracking alone is not enough. If an item is under furniture, inside another room, or lost in a noisy environment, the louder alert can become the fastest cue to follow.

Support expands beyond the iPhone

The new AirTag is not limited to iPhone users when it comes to precision-based searching. Apple has extended access to Precision Finding through Apple Watch Series 9 and later, as long as the watch runs WatchOS 26.2.1.

This gives users another way to search for belongings without always reaching for an iPhone. In practical terms, it adds flexibility for situations where the phone is not immediately accessible.

Sharing location for travel and day-to-day use

Apple has also added a temporary location-sharing feature that can be sent to trusted contacts or third parties, including airlines. The feature is designed for situations where an item is misplaced during travel and others need to help with the search.

More than 50 airline partners are said to support the tracking integration. That makes the device more relevant not only for everyday item management, but also for travel-related needs, where coordination with others often becomes necessary.

Battery, privacy, and materials

The second-generation AirTag still uses a replaceable CR2032 coin battery. Apple says the battery can last for more than a year, keeping the device convenient for long-term use without frequent maintenance.

On the privacy side, location data is encrypted through the Find My network and is not stored directly on the AirTag itself. Apple’s system is designed to keep tracking information inside its own secure ecosystem.

The company has also highlighted more environmentally conscious material choices. The cover uses 85 percent recycled plastic, while the packaging is now made entirely from fiber-based materials to reduce plastic waste from single-use packaging.

With a louder speaker, a wider Precision Finding range, and broader support across Apple devices and travel scenarios, the new AirTag arrives in Indonesia as a more capable tracking accessory for users who want a simpler way to keep important items within reach.
