HUAWEI has brought the Mate series back to Indonesia with the launch of the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro, a flagship model priced at Rp16.999.000. The phone is set to go on sale starting April 24 and arrives as a high-end option for users looking for a device that combines camera performance, durability, and AI features in one package.

Its return also stands out because the Mate line had not appeared in the Indonesian market since the Mate 40, which was released around four years ago. That makes the Mate 80 Pro more than just another premium phone launch, since it marks the re-entry of one of HUAWEI’s most recognizable flagship families.

A camera system built as the main attraction

HUAWEI places photography at the center of the Mate 80 Pro experience. The phone uses a True-to-Colour Camera system that is designed to render colors more accurately across different shooting conditions.

The main camera carries a 50MP Ultra Lighting RYYB sensor with a variable aperture of F1.4-F4.0 and OIS support. This setup is intended to keep photos sharp and bright, especially when lighting is not ideal. On the rear side, HUAWEI also includes a 48MP Macro Telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom and a 40MP Ultra-Wide Angle camera for broader scenes.

To support cleaner framing, the device adds AI Composition. The feature analyzes objects in the frame and helps arrange the photo automatically so the final image looks more balanced.

Durability is part of the flagship identity

Beyond imaging, the Mate 80 Pro also emphasizes physical protection. HUAWEI calls the device’s build philosophy an Ultra Durable Design, and the display is covered with second-generation Kunlun Glass.

According to HUAWEI, that glass offers impact resistance up to 20 times stronger than ordinary phone glass. The phone also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for resistance to dust and water, with protection claimed to extend to extreme temperatures from -20 to 80 degrees Celsius.

The back panel uses Vegan Fibre material, and the phone comes in gold, green, and black color options.

AI features spread across everyday use

The AI story on the Mate 80 Pro does not stop at the camera. HUAWEI also brings AI into daily functions, aiming to make the device more practical in routine use.

One highlighted feature is AI Smart Control, which provides quick access to platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek. The phone also includes AI Remove for clearing unwanted objects from photos, while Two-way AI Noise Reduction is designed to make voice calls sound clearer.

Large battery and fast charging support

Power delivery is another part of the package. The Mate 80 Pro is equipped with a 5,750mAh battery, paired with 100W Wired SuperCharge for cable charging.

For users who prefer wireless charging, HUAWEI also provides support of up to 80W Wireless SuperCharge. The combination is aimed at users who need both long endurance and short charging times.

App access remains available through AppGallery

Even without built-in Google mobile services, HUAWEI says users can still reach popular apps such as YouTube, Gmail, and Google Maps through HUAWEI AppGallery. The app store also includes a 360-degree security system that covers developer verification and malware scanning.

With its Rp16.999.000 price tag, the Mate 80 Pro positions itself as a premium offering focused on photography, toughness, AI-based tools, and rapid charging. It adds another choice in Indonesia’s flagship phone segment for consumers who want a different alternative from mainstream competitors.
