Huawei has brought the Mate series back to Indonesia with the launch of the Mate 80 Pro, a flagship priced at Rp 16.999.000. The model arrives as the first Mate device to return to the local market since the Mate 40 Pro was released in October 2020, and it is positioned as a premium option for users looking for a large display, advanced cameras, and high-end hardware.
The device is being offered through official online channels, including the Huawei Indonesia website and partner marketplaces that work with the company. Its presence is notable not only because of the flagship status, but also because Huawei is again placing a Mate-branded phone in Indonesia after a long gap in the lineup.
Premium design with a distinctive finish
Mate 80 Pro keeps Huawei’s familiar flagship identity through a polished side frame and a matte rear panel with a glitter pattern. The combination gives the phone a luxe appearance while still differentiating it from more conventional premium smartphones.
In Indonesia, the phone is available in black, gold, and green. It measures 161.8 x 76 x 7.95 mm and weighs 219 grams, making it a fairly large device with a body that remains relatively slim for its class.
Large LTPO AMOLED panel with very high brightness
On the front, Huawei uses a 6.75-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The screen is also protected by Kunlun Glass 2, which adds another layer of durability to the surface.
Huawei claims the panel can reach a peak brightness of up to 8,000 nits. That level should help visibility in a wide range of lighting conditions, especially outdoors where direct sunlight often makes smartphone screens harder to read.
Front sensors and rear camera arrangement
One immediately recognizable detail sits at the top of the display, where Huawei places three cutouts. These house the selfie camera and a 3D ToF sensor that supports facial recognition features.
Around the back, the phone carries a triple-camera setup. The system consists of a 50 MP main camera, a 40 MP ultrawide lens, and a 48 MP telephoto camera, giving the device a camera configuration that fits its flagship positioning.
Large memory and battery capacity
For the Indonesian market, Huawei has not provided a detailed explanation of the chipset used in the Mate 80 Pro. The China version is said to use the Kirin 9030 Pro SoC, while the unit sold locally comes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.
The phone is powered by a 5,500 mAh battery. Charging support is extensive, with 100W wired fast charging, 80W wireless charging, and 18W reverse charging for powering other devices.
HarmonyOS instead of GMS
The Mate 80 Pro runs HarmonyOS and does not include Google Mobile Services. That means users will rely on Huawei Mobile Services and the Huawei AppGallery to access and download applications.
For users already accustomed to Huawei’s ecosystem, this setup remains part of the everyday experience. It also reinforces Huawei’s continued focus on its own services rather than Google-based software.
Durability, security, and connectivity
Huawei equips the phone with IP68 and IP69 certification, indicating resistance to dust and certain levels of water exposure. For biometrics, the fingerprint scanner is placed on the side of the body, while the front-facing 3D ToF system adds another layer of facial security support.
Connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth 6, GPS, NFC, and a USB-C port. With these features and the Rp 16.999.000 price tag, the Mate 80 Pro is aimed at buyers who want a premium package that combines a large screen, a high-capacity battery, advanced front-facing sensors, and flagship-level design. Orders are officially opened on 24 April 2026 through Huawei’s sales channels in Indonesia.
