Redmi A7 4G and A7 Pro 4G Debut in India, Bigger Battery and Longer Updates Set Them Apart

Redmi has introduced two new entry-level options in India, the Redmi A7 4G and the Redmi A7 Pro 4G, and the practical difference between them is easy to spot. Both phones aim at users who want a large display, long battery life, and the basic features needed for everyday use, but the Pro model adds a larger battery and longer software support.

Display size sets the first split

The most visible distinction comes from the screen. Redmi A7 Pro 4G uses a 6.9-inch LCD panel, while Redmi A7 4G comes with a slightly smaller 6.88-inch display, and both offer HD+ resolution with a 120 Hz refresh rate.

That small difference in size means the two phones should feel very similar in hand and on paper. Even so, Redmi appears to be giving buyers a choice between a marginally larger canvas and a slightly more compact alternative.

Battery capacity gives the Pro model an advantage

Another key gap appears in battery size. Redmi A7 Pro 4G is equipped with a 6,300 mAh battery, while Redmi A7 4G carries a 5,200 mAh unit.

Charging support stays the same on both models, with 15W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging. Wireless charging is still uncommon in this price class, so its presence adds practical value to both devices.

Software support is where the Pro clearly pulls ahead

The software difference is more significant than the screen gap. Redmi A7 4G runs Android 15 based on HyperOS 2, while Redmi A7 Pro 4G launches with Android 16 based on HyperOS 3.

Redmi also gives the Pro version a longer life on the software side, promising security updates for up to 6 years. The standard model receives security support for 4 years, which may matter to buyers who plan to keep the phone longer.

Core hardware remains closely matched

Outside of those main differences, the two devices stay aligned on the essentials. Both phones use the Unisoc T7250 chipset, a 13 MP rear camera, and an 8 MP front camera.

Storage tops out at 64 GB on both models, keeping the series focused on basic daily tasks rather than heavy workloads. That includes calling, messaging, social media, and other light use cases.

Practical extras and pricing

Redmi also includes a 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.2, and IP52 certification on both phones. These additions reinforce the entry-level positioning by keeping the devices simple and functional for everyday use.

In India, Redmi A7 4G is priced at 10,499 rupee, while Redmi A7 Pro 4G costs 11,499 rupee. For buyers comparing the two, the choice comes down to whether a slightly larger display, a bigger battery, and longer update support justify the extra cost.
