Redmi A7 4G Series Goes On Sale In India, Pro Model Adds 6,300mAh Battery And Longer Android Support

Redmi has expanded its budget lineup in India with the Redmi A7 4G Series, putting two entry-level phones on sale at the same time. The range includes the Redmi A7 4G and Redmi A7 Pro 4G, both positioned as affordable 4G devices with 120Hz displays and 64GB of internal storage.

The Pro model stands out most clearly because it combines a larger 6,300mAh battery with a longer Android update commitment. The standard Redmi A7 4G keeps a closely related feature set, but it remains the more modest option in the series.

Display differences are subtle, but still meaningful

The Redmi A7 Pro 4G comes with a 6.9-inch HD+ panel at 720 x 1600 pixels. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches up to 800 nits of peak brightness, which should help when the phone is used outdoors.

The Redmi A7 4G uses a slightly smaller 6.88-inch HD+ display with the same 120Hz refresh rate. Its peak brightness is limited to 600 nits, while both phones also support wet touch technology and TÜV-certified eye protection.

Same chipset, different memory configuration

Xiaomi uses the same Unisoc T7250 chipset across both models, along with LPDDR4X RAM and virtual RAM expansion support. The main memory split is straightforward: the Redmi A7 Pro 4G gets 4GB of RAM, while the Redmi A7 4G comes with 3GB.

Storage is identical on both devices at 64GB, and users who need more room can expand it by up to 2TB through a dedicated MicroSD slot. That keeps the two phones closely aligned for basic everyday use while leaving the Pro model with a small advantage in multitasking capacity.

Software support is one of the biggest gaps

The Redmi A7 Pro 4G ships with Android 16 based on HyperOS 3. Xiaomi says it will receive four years of Android updates and six years of security patches, making it the clearer long-term option in the lineup.

The Redmi A7 4G runs Android 15 based on HyperOS 2. Its software support is shorter, with two years of Android updates and four years of security updates, which makes the Pro version more appealing for buyers who plan to keep the phone longer.

Cameras and everyday features stay consistent

Both phones use the same camera setup, with a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Audio hardware is also shared, including a mono speaker with boosted output and a single microphone.

Xiaomi includes FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port on both models. Connectivity support covers 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo, along with a fingerprint scanner, accelerometer, and electronic compass.

Battery size is the main hardware headline

Battery life is where the Redmi A7 Pro 4G makes its strongest case, thanks to a 6,300mAh battery. The Redmi A7 4G is still equipped with a 5,200mAh unit, which remains substantial for this category.

Both phones support 15W wired charging and 7.5W wired reverse charging. Xiaomi also gives the pair IP52 protection against dust and splashes, so the two devices arrive with a similar level of basic durability.

Price and color options

The Redmi A7 4G is priced at Rs. 10,999 for the 3GB + 64GB version, while the Redmi A7 Pro 4G costs Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB + 64GB model. Xiaomi India also lists lower online prices of Rs. 10,499 for the Redmi A7 4G and Rs. 11,499 for the Redmi A7 Pro 4G.

The phones are available through Xiaomi’s official channels, Amazon, Flipkart, and Xiaomi retail stores across India. Color choices include Black and Blue for the Redmi A7 4G, while the Redmi A7 Pro 4G is sold in Black and Orange.
