Motorola is preparing to bring the Edge 70 Pro to India on 22 April, and the device already looks positioned to compete on more than just raw specifications. Early details from the Flipkart landing page point to a phone built around endurance, low-light imaging, a brighter display, and stronger body protection.

The launch messaging suggests Motorola is not treating this model as a minor update. Instead, the company appears to be pushing a handset that combines physical durability, AI-driven performance, and a smoother visual experience for both everyday use and entertainment.

Design and durability take a central role

Motorola continues its collaboration with Pantone for the Edge 70 Pro, giving the phone a distinct visual identity through three color options. Lily White comes with a marble-style finish, Tea arrives in green with a satin luxe look, and Titan uses blue with a tailored fabric material.

Beyond appearance, the model is also built for tougher use. The Edge 70 Pro carries IP68/69 certification and MIL-STD-810H military-grade standard support, indicating resistance to dust, water, and harsher conditions than a typical smartphone setup.

Large AMOLED panel with high brightness

On the front, Motorola has fitted a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution. The screen is meant to deliver sharp visuals for streaming, reading, and gaming, while the 144Hz refresh rate should help motion feel more fluid.

Motorola claims the panel can reach a peak brightness of 5200 nits, which places strong emphasis on outdoor visibility and overall screen impact. Protection is handled by Gorilla Glass 7i, adding another layer to the phone’s durability-focused approach.

Dimensity 8500 Extreme and AI tuning

Performance on the Edge 70 Pro is led by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset. Motorola says the processor includes AI Low Light optimization, a feature designed to support image processing in darker environments.

The handset is also paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM. To help maintain thermal control during longer usage sessions, Motorola has added a 4600mm vapor chamber cooling system.

Night photography is a major selling point

Camera performance appears to be one of the clearest priorities on this device. Motorola uses a 50MP Sony LYT-710 main sensor, supported by software tuning aimed at producing cleaner and more detailed night shots.

That direction matches the company’s “Seize the Night” promotion, which signals a strong focus on low-light photography. While Motorola has not yet revealed the full details of the secondary camera setup, the available information makes the main sensor the headline feature in imaging.

Battery capacity stands above the usual range

Another major attraction is the 6,500mAh battery, which gives the Edge 70 Pro a larger capacity than many modern smartphones that still sit around 5,000mAh. For users who prioritize long runtime, the figure alone makes the phone stand out.

Charging support is equally important, with 90W fast charging included. The combination of a larger battery and faster refill speeds is likely to appeal to users who want both strong stamina and shorter downtime.

Software support and launch expectations

Out of the box, the Edge 70 Pro runs Hello UX based on Android 16. Motorola also promises three years of operating system updates and five years of security updates, which adds long-term value for buyers thinking beyond the initial launch period.

Motorola has not announced the official price yet, although market speculation places it below Rs 40,000. Rumors have also mentioned a possible Edge 70 Pro+ variant, but no details have been provided to clarify how it may differ from the main model.
