OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra is drawing attention not only because of its performance focus, but also because of the way it presents itself as a gaming device with a more assertive identity. The Metal Storm variant gives the phone a stronger visual presence, pairing an industrial feel with a metal frame that makes the body look more solid and premium.
That design choice sets the Ace 6 Ultra apart in a segment where many gaming phones lean heavily on raw specifications. OnePlus appears to be signaling that a fast handset can also carry a distinctive look, and that visual character matters just as much as the hardware inside.
A bolder look built around Metal Storm
Metal Storm is one of the clearest talking points because it gives the Ace 6 Ultra a firmer and more masculine impression. The metal chassis reinforces that modern look while also helping the device stand out more easily among other gaming phones.
The color direction also supports the phone’s premium positioning. Rather than going for a purely flashy approach, OnePlus seems to be using the finish to communicate a more controlled but still aggressive identity.
165Hz OLED display aimed at smooth gaming
The display is another major part of the appeal, with a 6.78-inch OLED panel and a 165Hz refresh rate. That figure is presented as comparable to the standard used on desktop esports monitors, which helps frame the phone as a serious option for mobile gaming.
For competitive titles such as Mobile Legends or PUBG, a fast panel like this can make motion look smoother and touch response feel more immediate. Combined with the screen size, the display helps define the Ace 6 Ultra as a device built with gaming at the center.
Dimensity 9500 and a large battery take priority
Under the hood, OnePlus uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 built on a 3nm process. The chip is positioned to deliver both strong performance and better power efficiency, which matters for heavy gaming and multitasking.
Battery life also receives unusual emphasis through the 8500 mAh capacity. That is a very large battery for its class, and OnePlus pairs it with 100W SuperVOOC charging so recharging can happen more quickly.
Gaming control gets extra support
OnePlus does not stop at core hardware and has also prepared the OnePlus Marksman Gaming Controller. The accessory attaches directly to the phone body and adds physical buttons for a more direct control layout while playing.
Louis Jie, head of OnePlus in China, said the new control design was made to give users a faster and more immediate method of input. He also noted that the grip was shaped to feel more comfortable in the hand, helping reduce fatigue during longer sessions.
Cameras and storage are still part of the package
Although gaming is clearly the main focus, the Ace 6 Ultra still includes a 50MP Sony IMX906 main camera with OIS. The stabilization support is meant to help keep shots sharp when hand movement is not steady.
Memory options also remain generous, with RAM ranging from 12GB to 16GB. Internal storage goes up to 1TB, giving users plenty of room for large games, video files, and work-related data.
The phone is scheduled to launch in China at the end of April, and official availability in Indonesia has not been confirmed. With the Metal Storm finish, 165Hz OLED display, Dimensity 9500, 8500 mAh battery, and the optional Marksman Gaming Controller, the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra is shaping up as a gaming-oriented phone that combines strong performance with a more distinctive physical identity.
