Poco’s latest move in India’s budget phone market is not just about adding another large battery. The more notable part is how the company is pairing affordable pricing with unusually long software support on the Poco C81, making the device stand out in a segment where long-term updates are often limited.
The new C-series lineup consists of the Poco C81 and Poco C81x, both aimed at basic everyday use while staying below Rs 11,000. The two models share several core features, but the C81 is positioned as the stronger option thanks to a larger battery and a much longer update commitment.
Battery life is the main divide
The Poco C81 carries a 6300mAh battery, which is the headline feature for users who prioritize endurance over raw performance. Poco says the phone can last up to two days on a single charge, and it also supports 15W charging along with 7.5W reverse wired charging.
The Poco C81x takes a more modest route with a 5200mAh battery and 15W charging support. Poco claims this model can last up to 1.6 days on one charge, which still places it in a practical range for budget buyers who want extended usage without charging too often.
Similar screens, different comfort in hand
Both models use 120Hz displays, a specification that stands out at this price level. The Poco C81 comes with a 6.9-inch panel, while the Poco C81x uses a slightly smaller 6.88-inch screen.
Weight is another area where the two phones differ. The C81 weighs 208 grams, while the C81x is lighter at 193 grams, which may matter for users who prefer a less bulky device during long periods of use.
Basic hardware for daily tasks
Poco has kept the processor details simple, saying only that both phones are powered by an octa-core chip. That places the two devices squarely in the entry-level category, with the focus clearly on everyday tasks such as communication, social media, and light app usage.
The camera setup is also straightforward and identical on both phones. Each model includes a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera, covering routine photo needs and video calls without moving beyond the basics.

For biometric access, Poco includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on both devices. AI face unlock is also available, giving users two common options for quicker access.
These are familiar features for the class, but they still help the phones feel complete at this price point. The combination of fingerprint unlocking and face recognition keeps the experience practical for budget-focused buyers.
Software support sets the C81 apart
The most surprising detail comes from Poco’s update promise for the C81. The company says the phone will receive 4 major Android upgrades and 6 years of security updates, which is a strong commitment for a low-cost device.
By comparison, the Poco C81x is still promised 2 Android upgrades and 4 years of security updates. That is a solid support window in its own right, but it does not match the longer life cycle offered by the C81.
This difference may matter as much as battery size for buyers thinking beyond the first year of use. In the budget segment, extended software support can be a deciding factor because it adds value long after the phone leaves the box.
Pricing keeps both models within reach
The Poco C81x is priced at Rs 9,999 for the 3GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. The Poco C81 costs Rs 10,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration.
Both phones go on sale on April 27 at 12 PM IST through Flipkart. With the price gap staying relatively small, the C81 is likely to attract attention from shoppers who want the bigger 6300mAh battery and the more generous software support package in the same device.
