Redmi Tests a 10,000 mAh Phone, Paired With 100W Charging and a 200MP Camera

A new Redmi device is drawing attention because it is reportedly being tested with a 10,000 mAh battery, a capacity that stands far above what most mainstream smartphones offer today. The leak has sparked interest not only because of the size of the battery, but also because it points to a handset designed to reduce one of the most common daily concerns: running out of power at the wrong time.

The information comes from well-known tech leaker Digital Chat Station and was later reported by Gizmochina. While the device is still in the testing stage and has not been officially announced, the rumor alone has already positioned it as one of the more intriguing battery-focused phones under development at Redmi.

A battery capacity that changes expectations

A 10,000 mAh battery would place the phone in a very different category from most current smartphones. If the leak proves accurate, the device could offer much longer endurance, including for users who rely heavily on their phones throughout the day.

That kind of battery life would fit Redmi’s broader brand image, which often centers on strong specifications at relatively competitive prices. In that combination, a large battery could become an especially appealing feature for buyers who want practical value without moving into a higher-priced segment.

Possible placement in the Redmi Note line

Among the devices said to be under testing, one is linked to the name Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. This name has not been officially confirmed, but the leak suggests it may sit as the top-tier model in the lineup currently being developed.

There is also a report that the global version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max may carry a smaller battery of around 9,210 mAh. That adjustment is believed to be tied to safety requirements and regulations in certain regions, including the European Union.

Fast charging is expected to balance the large battery

A battery this large naturally raises questions about charging time. To address that concern, Redmi is said to be preparing 100W fast charging support, which would help keep the massive battery from becoming impractical in everyday use.

If that information is correct, the combination of a 10,000 mAh battery and 100W charging could become a major selling point. It would give users longer battery life without forcing them to spend too much time plugged in.

Other hardware is also part of the plan

The leak suggests Redmi is not focusing on battery capacity alone. The device is also said to feature a 200 MP main camera using the Samsung HP5 sensor, showing that the company may still want to keep photography competitive.

Supporting that setup, the phone is linked to an 8 MP OmniVision OV8F10 ultra-wide camera and a 32 MP front camera based on the Samsung S5KKDS sensor. The overall package suggests a device that aims to feel complete rather than being limited to endurance alone.

Display and premium touches appear in the leak

On the display side, Redmi is reportedly using an LTPS panel with 1.5K resolution and a high refresh rate. The leaked details also mention a metal frame and an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, both of which would help the phone feel more refined.

Those elements matter because a large battery alone does not define the appeal of a modern smartphone. Redmi appears to be trying to combine endurance with a more premium user experience, at least based on the current testing information.

Part of a wider battery trend in smartphones

The idea of very large batteries is not limited to Redmi. Other brands, including Honor and Realme, have also been associated with devices in a similar direction, such as the Honor Power 2 and Realme P4 Power.

Even so, if Redmi brings a 10,000 mAh battery to a mainstream device, the impact could be wider. With its large user base, the brand has the potential to push long-lasting batteries further into the mid-range market and make extended endurance a more common expectation.
