Fuyao Could Mark Oppo’s Push Into Gimbals, With Find X10 Launching In 2026

Oppo’s next imaging move may not be another smartphone feature update. Reports suggest the company is preparing a gimbal camera device codenamed Fuyao, and the product could appear alongside the flagship Find X10 series in the fourth quarter of 2026 if development stays on track.

The rumor has drawn attention because it points to a broader expansion beyond handsets. While Oppo has not issued an official confirmation, industry sources close to the product development process make the leak appear more credible.

A step beyond mobile imaging

Oppo has spent years strengthening its camera credentials inside the smartphone market. The company has invested in camera sensors, AI-based image processing, and partnerships that help improve mobile photography performance.

Fuyao appears to fit into that long-running strategy rather than stand apart from it. A gimbal device would allow Oppo to extend its imaging focus into a category aimed at content creation, not just phone-based stills and video.

Portable gimbal cameras are a major driver in that category. They are widely used by content creators who need stable footage without relying on larger production equipment.

Demand for stable video has also risen as platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube continue to shape user behavior. A gimbal helps keep footage smooth while the user is moving, which makes the product relevant for both professional creators and casual users.

Oppo would not enter an open field. IDC says DJI held about 62 percent of the market in 2025, while Insta360 followed with around 12 percent.

Those numbers show that any new entrant needs a clear differentiator. Brand recognition alone is unlikely to be enough, especially in a category where buyers already understand the value of specialized tools.

Oppo, however, may have an advantage from its position as a smartphone maker. The company controls hardware, software, AI algorithms, and a large existing user base, which could help create a more seamless experience between the phone and the gimbal.

Other phone makers are watching the same space

Oppo is not the only smartphone brand reported to be exploring this direction. Vivo has also been linked to development of a compact gimbal camera since last year, with early prototypes said to have entered advanced testing.

Honor is also said to be preparing a similar move, though with a different approach. That pattern suggests gimbal cameras are starting to look like a new opportunity for major phone brands.

If that trend continues, consumers could see more product choices with broader feature sets. Competition may also accelerate innovation as smartphone companies bring mature strengths in imaging, AI, and supply chains into the category.

For Oppo, the central challenge will be how Fuyao is positioned. The company still needs to define whether the device is meant for professional users, semi-professional creators, or more casual content makers, and pricing will also play a decisive role in how the market receives it when paired with the Find X10 series.
