Xiaomi is taking a less obvious route with the YU7 GT, and that choice says a lot about how the company wants the SUV to be perceived. Instead of pushing the “Ultra” label, Xiaomi is framing the model as a Grand Touring machine that blends speed, comfort, and long-distance ability in one package.
That positioning was reinforced at the Beijing International Auto Show 2026, where Xiaomi made it clear that the YU7 GT is not meant to be a pure track weapon. The company is presenting it as a high-performance SUV that still needs to feel appropriate for everyday use.
GT over Ultra
The decision to use GT rather than Ultra is not just a branding detail. It reflects the way Xiaomi has shaped the car’s identity, with an emphasis on fast road driving rather than a single-minded focus on maximum circuit performance.
Within the YU7 family, the GT version is being introduced as the flagship variant. Its launch is expected at the end of May, signaling that Xiaomi is targeting buyers who want serious power without giving up practicality.
That approach also helps define the audience for the vehicle. Xiaomi appears to be aiming at drivers who want a sporty character and strong output, but still expect stability, comfort, and day-to-day usability from a premium SUV.
Strong output, balanced execution
The technical package is far from restrained. The YU7 GT uses a dual-motor system rated at around 1003 PS, placing it firmly among very quick SUVs.
Xiaomi also says the top speed can reach 300 km/h. Those figures make it clear that the model belongs in the high-performance segment, even if its mission is broader than outright lap times.
What sets it apart from a more extreme performance model is the way Xiaomi describes the tuning. The company says the powertrain is paired with a chassis setup designed to support high-speed stability while still keeping the car comfortable over long distances.

That kind of figure matters because a Grand Touring model is expected to do more than accelerate hard. It should also be able to cover distance without demanding frequent charging stops.
