Samsung’s latest storage launch in Indonesia is doing more than adding new products to the catalog. The company is also reshaping how its external memory lineup is named, with a simpler alphabet-based system that is meant to make product selection easier for consumers.
Under this approach, Samsung is replacing older names such as EVO Plus, PRO Plus, and PRO Ultimate with series like T7, T9, and P9 Express. The company says the letter “T” stands for Trustworthiness, while “P” represents Peace of Mind, giving the lineup a clearer identity based on user needs.
A clearer split between everyday and heavy use
The T7 and T9 are not positioned for the same type of buyer. Samsung places T7 as an extra storage solution for everyday use, aimed at casual gamers, entry-level content creators, and laptop or tablet users who want reliable added space.
T9, by contrast, is designed for heavy users. Samsung targets the series at demanding gamers and professional creators who regularly handle large files and need higher endurance from their storage devices.
Performance and capacity are part of the appeal
One of the most notable points in the T7 lineup is its 1TB capacity. Samsung says the series can reach read speeds of up to 170MB/s, allowing users to expand storage without hurting overall performance.
T9 goes further on speed, with read speeds of up to 200MB/s. That higher specification is meant to support workloads that involve frequent large-file transfers and more intensive usage patterns.
Built for tougher conditions
Samsung also equips T9 with 6-proof protection, a feature intended to improve reliability in extreme environments. That makes the product line more relevant for devices that are often taken outdoors.
The company specifically positions T9 for use with drones and action cameras, where storage devices are more likely to face harsh operating conditions. In this way, T9 is promoted not only for speed but also for durability.
Launch timing, pricing, and bonus offer
The T7 and T9 are scheduled to go on sale in Indonesia starting 5 May 2026. They will be sold through Samsung Memory official stores on Tokopedia and Shopee, along with selected electronics retailers.
Samsung has also released the recommended retail prices for the Indonesian market. T7 1TB is listed at Rp 1.422.672, while T7 2TB is priced at Rp 2.817.448. For T9, the 128GB model costs Rp 1.115.821, the 256GB model is Rp 1.757.418, and the 512GB variant is Rp 3.542.731.
As part of the 5.5 promotion period, Samsung is adding a limited bonus for T9 buyers. Purchases made while stocks last will include a free JUNO Blindbox special-edition action figure.
With the new naming system, clearer product segmentation, and a launch offer attached to T9, Samsung is signaling a more streamlined approach to its external memory portfolio in Indonesia. The move is meant to make the lineup easier to understand while still giving different types of users a more specific match for their storage needs.
