A small Bluetooth package is now making a noticeable impact across Xiaomi’s HyperOS ecosystem. At just 13.76 MB, the April 2026 OTA update is designed to improve wireless stability, broaden accessory support, and reduce power drain during everyday use.
The update is rolling out globally and focuses on the parts of Bluetooth that users feel most often: pairing, connection reliability, and audio behavior. Xiaomi is also targeting a smoother experience for compatible earphones, wearables, and other wireless accessories across its devices.
Broader accessory support and smoother pairing
One of the main goals of the update is to expand support for newer earphones from Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO. The Bluetooth system also receives adjustments to A2DP and HFP, which helps devices recognize compatible earphones faster and display pairing pop-ups more smoothly.
The update also automates premium codec selection for formats such as LDAC and LHDC. That means higher-quality audio can be enabled without manual setup, making the wireless audio experience simpler for users who want better sound with less configuration.
Framework-level changes aimed at stability
The most important technical work sits inside the Bluetooth framework. Xiaomi has updated services that handle background scanning, data exchange between devices, and Low-Energy or BLE status.
These changes are meant to reduce architectural bugs that can interfere with wireless connections. Problems such as sudden disconnects, handshake timeouts, and audio desynchronization during gaming are among the issues the update is intended to address.
The same framework-level work also helps reduce quick-pair animation failures that could appear when a timeout occurred. At higher bit-rates, audio synchronization is also said to become smoother and less prone to micro-stutter.
Battery use and daily reliability
Beyond connection quality, the update is also built with efficiency in mind. Xiaomi says the improved background services should help maintain strong wireless connections while using less power.
That efficiency gain is expected to be especially noticeable on phones powered by flagship chipsets such as Snapdragon 8 Elite. Devices that stay connected for long periods to accessories like Xiaomi Band or smartwatches stand to benefit most from the optimization.
The overall direction of the update is clear. Xiaomi is not only adding support for new devices, but also refining the Bluetooth experience in HyperOS so it feels more stable, more efficient, and more dependable in daily use.
Even with a compact file size, the April 2026 Bluetooth update targets the wireless features people rely on most. Earphones, wearables, and everyday audio connections are the main areas receiving the improvement.
