vivo S50t Trades Faster Storage for a Lower Price, Keeping the Same Premium Formula

The new vivo S50t takes a familiar premium formula and trims one specific part to reach a lower price. It keeps almost everything that defines the vivo S50, but swaps in a slower internal storage standard, giving buyers a more affordable entry into the same high-end package.

That small change matters because the rest of the device remains positioned firmly in the premium segment. For users who care more about overall value than the fastest storage spec, the S50t becomes the more practical option.

A near-match to the vivo S50

vivo says the S50t is essentially identical to the vivo S50 that arrived earlier in December. The main difference sits in storage technology, where the S50 uses UFS 4.1 while the S50t relies on UFS 3.1.

That downgrade does make the S50t a step behind on paper, but it also helps bring the price down. In a market that increasingly reacts to smaller price gaps, that trade-off gives the model a clear reason to exist.

Premium hardware stays intact

Outside storage, the S50t keeps the same high-end direction. It uses a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 1260 x 2750 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Performance also stays strong thanks to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. vivo pairs the chipset with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, while storage is available in a 512GB configuration.

Cameras and battery remain major selling points

The camera setup is one of the most aggressive parts of the phone. On the back, vivo equips the S50t with a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and an 8MP ultrawide camera.

For selfies, the phone carries a 50MP front camera. That combination keeps the device competitive for users who place heavy weight on imaging and video capture.

Power is another area where vivo does not scale back. The S50t includes a 6,500 mAh battery and supports 90W charging, which helps the device balance endurance with fast replenishment.

Pricing positions it as the smarter buy for some users

The lower price is the biggest reason the S50t stands out. The 12GB + 512GB version costs CNY 3,199, or around Rp7.5 million, while the 16GB + 512GB model is priced at CNY 3,499, or around Rp8.2 million.

By comparison, the vivo S50 is about CNY 100 more expensive, or roughly Rp200,000 higher. That narrow gap leaves the choice dependent on how much value a buyer places on UFS 4.1 versus a slightly cheaper entry point.

For many users, the S50t delivers the stronger balance. It keeps the large battery, fast display, capable chipset, and advanced camera hardware, while asking less money for a compromise that stays confined to storage speed.
