MacBook Neo Heads To Indonesia, But Currency Pressure May Push The Price Higher

Apple is preparing to broaden its laptop lineup in Indonesia with MacBook Neo, a model that is set to draw attention for its relatively lower entry price in the premium Mac segment. The device is scheduled to arrive on 22 May 2025, and its appearance on the Postel certification site under the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has further strengthened expectations that the launch is getting close.

The most notable part of the new model is its positioning. MacBook Neo is aimed at buyers who want access to the Mac ecosystem without having to start at a high price point, even though its final local tag may still move upward.

A new entry point for the Mac lineup

In the United States, MacBook Neo starts at 599 dollars, or around Rp 10,4 million. For Indonesia, the lowest configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is expected to be priced at Rp 10,699 million.

That figure, however, is not fixed in stone. The local price may still end up higher, and the rising dollar exchange rate is one of the factors that could push the final retail cost upward when the device officially enters the market.

Launch timing and early ordering window

The schedule around the launch is also beginning to take shape. Pre-orders are said to open earlier, with an estimated start date of 15 May.

If that timeline holds, buyers will not have to wait long between the early ordering period and the official retail debut on 22 May 2025. The close spacing between the two dates suggests Apple is preparing a fairly quick rollout for the Indonesian market.

Chip A18 Pro and fanless design

Under the hood, MacBook Neo relies on Apple’s A18 Pro chip. The laptop also uses a fanless design, which means it does not include a cooling fan.

Apple says the machine can deliver performance up to 50 percent faster than PC laptops in its class for everyday tasks. That claim places MacBook Neo in the category of efficient laptops that still aim to keep pace with routine work demands.

Light build and 13-inch display

The physical design follows a compact direction. MacBook Neo weighs around 1.22 kg and uses a unibody aluminum body.

It will be offered in four colors: blush, indigo, silver, and citrus. The display is a 13-inch Liquid Retina panel with brightness claimed to reach up to 500 nits, which should help visibility across different lighting conditions.

Battery life and software package

Battery endurance is another key selling point. In normal use, Apple claims MacBook Neo can last up to 16 hours.

On the software side, the laptop runs macOS Tahoe and is integrated with Apple Intelligence. That gives the more affordable model access to Apple’s artificial intelligence features as part of its standard software experience.

The combination of an entry-level Mac price, a lightweight build, and Apple Intelligence support makes MacBook Neo an important product for the brand’s next move in Indonesia. With the launch date approaching, attention now turns to the final local price and the response from buyers who want to enter the Mac ecosystem at a lower starting point.
